My hostel is small and centrally located near to everything.

A complimentary breakfast is also included with your booking here.

The room has 2 bunk bed & 1 single bed with linens, towels and essentials; As well both a ceiling fan and stand fan with ensuite bathroom with shower. Offers also a mini garden abundant with plants.

Preferred visitors are budget nature lovers, seeking a GREEN environment. Manageable children over 12 years of age and pets are welcome.

The atmosphere and design is GREEN eco-friendly, with the use of organic products where possible. The hostel is Smoke and Alcohol FREE, (meaning not allowed) as is Drugs, loud groups, parties and litter.

El Nido is growing fast and the town power is finding it challenging to support their electricity needs. When this happens, we use our quiet back-up solar power.

Our location offers lots of positives like being in close proximity to the market, the terminal, the beach, plus lots of motorbike rentals and just a P10 ride by trike to downtown.

The tiny down side is we are a little too near the town power plant and its big engine (when on) can be heard too much in some rooms. To reduce this hum, our planting of more bamboo around the edges of our building is baffling this sound a little.

Elternative Hostel House Rules

1. No smoking or drinking of alcohol policy anywhere on Elternative property including hang out spaces in the garden and roof top.

2. No wasting of water please, it’s so precious, especially in our dry season when the whole town is severely short of water.

3. UNBOOKED visitors are NOT allowed in hostel rooms.

4 Parties and special events are not encouraged here.

5. May not be safe or suitable for infants (Under 12 years)

If leaving earlier, all additional payments must be completed by 9pm the night before.

FYI: I'm English born, arrived in El Nido, (one of the early pioneers) in 1986, long before El Nido had a road or hotel. I discovered Malapacao Island, moved there soon after and have remained there these past 31 years. Aside from my quality island time, I keep busy managing an organic fruit and veggie farm, growing cultured mushrooms and raising animals, so I rarely come to town. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
