The house is a piece of Montevideo's history, full of colonial charm and period features. It was built in 1890 by the Country's premier furniture producer. 120 years later, it has been fully refurbished to comply with modern standards for accommodation, but still retaining its original features and atmosphere.
Location
Montevideo Chic is only 3 blocks from Plaza Matriz, the heart of Montevideo, with its Cathedral and Cabildo (its colonial Government House). Most sights are on your doorstep!
This part of Montevideo, known as Ciudad Vieja (the Old Town) is home to nearly all its historic buildings, museums and sights. It also offers a wealth of bars, restaurants, night clubs, art galleries, shops and more - and, of course, Uruguay's most important theatre, Teatro Solís. So most daytime and nighttime activities will be just a short stroll away!
Security in Ciudad Vieja is very good, since 400 CCTV cameras were installed and started operating in December 2013.
Local transport
Several bus lines stop 2 blocks away, that can take you to any other part of Montevideo.
Parking
Secure parking is available nearby for about 14$/24h.
How to get there
From Carrasco airport, you may take a taxi (~70$), shared shuttle (~20$) or bus (~2$) that will leave you at Plaza Independencia.
From Tres Cruces bus terminal, take a taxi (~6$) or bus CA1.
From Buquebus ferry terminal, it's only a 10' walk.
