From the owner

Raisdale Mill cottages have been converted from a 200 year old barn, so have thick stone walls and original oak beams and perlins. Beck Cottage forms part of a small rural complex which includes an adjacent cottage, the farmhouse and the former water mill. The nearest villages, each with a pub, are Chop Gate and Carlton. There are weekly markets at Helmsley and Stokesley.

Beck cottage has one double bedroom upstairs. A travel cot is available on request.

Heating is from a log burning fire in the lounge which heats the radiators and hot water. There is also an electric immersion heater to ensure constant hot water to the taps when the fire is not alight. There is an electric shower over the bath. Logs for the fire and electricity are included in the price.

To the rear of the cottage, overlooking the stream, there is a patio and barbeque area.

The coast at Whitby or Scarborough is less than an hours drive away and Saltburn-by-the-Sea is even nearer. You can also have a day out in York or Durham both within an hours drive. "Heartbeat", "Herriot" and Capt Cook" country are nearby.

Other attractions are Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, the North York Moors Steam Railway from Pickering to Whitby,. Visit Ryedale Folk museum in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole. Enjoy a fun day out at Flamingo Land. Learn more about the National Park at the visitor centres at Danby and Suton Bank.

Local attractions include Spout House, a 16th century thatched cruck house and former inn. See the carvings at the Wainstones. Read the inscription on the ship stone in Tripsdale.

Alternatively you can relax in the peace and tranquility of Raisdale: go for walks directly from the cottage onto the heather moors: bring your bike and ride over the moors.

    How do damage deposits work?

    In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

    Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

    How do I edit my booking?

    You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Jean (the owner) a message.

    If Jean (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
