Away from the tourists yet close to the most beautiful, empty beaches, breezy, safe, residential neighborhood. NO NIGHTLIFE in walking distance! Suitable for travelers seeking peace and nature. Car is not necessary but it certainly is a big plus!
The Space
Forget the South or West coast! Crowded, too hot, too noisy, dogs barking all night, eroding beaches and way too expensive tourist trap. This spacious house is located on the south-east part of the island known for its cooling, atlantic breeze. It's walking distance to the 6 most beautiful, uncrowded beaches. With its rugged, beautiful scenery the quiet and friendly Belair neighborhood is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the south and west coasts.
There are 2 separate apartments that could be connected or separated by locking or unlocking the door near the internal staircase.
The top floor apartment has two bedrooms, one shower and an open kitchen. It is furnished with an indonesian style furniture, has an exposed beam high ceilings and an amazing ocean view. There is a huge partially covered patio equipped with an outdoor sofas, two dining room tables as well as 3 lounge chairs.
The second apartment on the ground floor has 3 bedrooms, fully equipped granite counter top kitchen, 2 bathrooms, as well as a luxurious outdoor shower with wide "rain" shower head, hot and cold water. There is a large patio with sofas 2 lounge chairs.
LOCATION: The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach.
However the best beaches are 15-30 minutes away (on foot) or 5-10 minutes by car. They include:
- Bottom Bay Beach (our favorite!)
- Crane Beach (with a life guard)
- Ginger Bay Beach
- Sam Lords Castle Beach
- Harrismith Beach
Plus a few more secret beaches, which we're happy to share with you!
15 minute drive to the airport 20 minutes to Oistins Fish Market or the night life area: St. Lawrence Gap
ACT LIKE A LOCAL: We have been coming to Barbados to many years now and are familiar with the best beaches and sight seeing. We have a map upon request, which highlights the best places to see. There is well equipped Emerald City Supermarket is at Six Roads, 10 min drive.
The location is unique because it is away from the touristy areas of Barbados. Instead you'll find stunning beaches that have very few visitors but plenty of fresh coconuts to eat and drink. :)

The Neighborhood
The location is unique because it is away from the touristy areas of Barbados. You'll find stunning beaches that have very few visitors but plenty of fresh coconuts to eat and drink. :) No need for AC. With the cooling Atlantic breeze you may not even turn the ceiling fan on. This breeze also keeps mosquitos away. There are insect screens in all the windows anyway.
Getting Around
Bus stop is 2 min walk.
Other Things to Note
My favorite beaches:
Shark Hole (no sharks there, I promise), Ginger Bay, Bottom Bay and Crane are all in the walking distance, Crane beach is the best for boogie boarding (feel free to use mine)
Miami & Dover Beach are on the south. The calmest sea, suitable for kids & elderly is on Carib (right next to St. Lawrence Gap) and Brownes beach (just before Bridgetown).
West coast beaches are are more narrow (eroding) and also much more touristy.
I highly recommend a day trip to Batsheba, Martin's Bay on the East coast. Animal Flower Cave and Little Bay on the north side of the island. Its absolutely beautiful. The sea is very rough there, but you can still take a swim at the small pools inside the cave and on the little beach protected by the reefs at Little Bay, so wear bathing suit everywhere. Leave early in the morning. It may take more then an hour when you hit the traffic. Bring your camera.
If you like gardens, the Hunte's Garden is an absolute MUST: (URL HIDDEN)
Bridgetown is not very nice city, except of the Waterfront cafe, there is really nothing pretty to look at. I would certainly avoid it at night, not safe, watch for your belongings! What I can recommend is a Catamaran cruise and the Mount Gay rum factory.
