George Barn is at Top Farm in Blind Lane about 700 yards from the middle of Chipping Campden's historic High Street and its many shops, inns, restaurants and attractions. The National Trust's Hidcote Manor and Snowshill Manor are about 10 minutes by car, Stratford upon Avon is 12 miles. Warwick, Worcester, Gloucester, Oxford and Cheltenham are about 40 minutes away.
George Barn is let as a 2, 3 or 4-bedroom unit (price shown is as a 4-bedroom unit/8 persons - you can reduce the weekly rate by 20% for 6 people/3-bedrooms and 36% for 4-persons/2-bedrooms). The price showing on the system includes the Trip Adviser Booking Fee and has been set up using a minimum/cleaning cost and a daily cost to give a reasonably accurate figure for a 2-night and a 7-night stay. Intermediate stays will show a a considerable over-estimate which when he receives your initial request, Michael will amend and send to you.
It was built in 1948 on the site of an old thatched barn where Michael just about recalls seeing the draft horses’ harnesses stored on the first floor overnight. It was designed to hold implements, tractors, potatoes and apples on the ground floor and bulk grain on the first floor, but this use did not last much beyond the 1950’s.
More recently it served as an office and motorcycle work-shop/store for 10 years or so before recently being converted it into a wheelchair accessible unit by Michael.
Access to the ground floor is by either the 840mm wide side door or by opening the wider 1200mm bi-fold doors in the front of the picture. In addition to the ground floor double bedroom with en-suite wet-room, up to 3 first en-suite double bedrooms can be made available offering flexible accommodation for 4, 6 or 8 persons (prices set accordingly - reduce weekly rate by 20% for 6 people/3-bedrooms and 36% for 4-persons/2-bedrooms.
Off-road parking for 3 cars. Accessed via private drive, the 300 year old colour filled garden is on the other side of Blind Lane and there is a further safe amenity/exercise area for children.
The flexible lounge/kitchen/diner can accommodate up to 8 including a wheelchair. The electric armchair, settees and comfortable carvers can allow all to enjoy a good book or watch your choice of program on the 50-inch Smart Colour TV (Sky, BT Sport and Catch Up TV all included) with High Speed WiFi. Under-floor heating and warm & easy clean Kardean flooring add to your comfort.
The adapted kitchen includes fan assisted electric oven tower with pull out shelf to help with transfer of pots and pans which are stored in the drawers below. Induction hob and kitchen sink are incorporated in an electric table that can accommodate wheelchair users and be adjusted to suit your height.
Beyond the kitchen is the ground floor double bedroom with en-suite wet-room and electric profiling double bed. There is plenty of storage space in the wardrobe and chest of drawers and room to manoeuvre a wheel-chair. Light switches can be operated from the bed, as can the 26” colour television with its own Sky Multi Box.. Double action swing doors give easy access to the en-suite wetroom (also accessible from the kitchen). Wall mounted shower seat (shower wheelchair also available) and comfort height toilet have drop down bars for safe and easy access. In the corner immediately beyond the shower seat is a two speed body drier to help you to dry yourself quickly. Wall mounted vertical bars for support are provided alongside the basins and body drier.
There are 3 en-suite double bedrooms on the first floor, climb the staircase and beyond the landing is the Back Bedroom with its lovely Cotswold stone wall. The dormer to the left provides a nice view towards the Catholic Church and Chipping Campden.
Please note that we do not allow any smoking inside the cottage and as allergy suffers we also do not allow pets with the exception of Guide Dogs who are welcome, but please note that we do make a small additional cleaning charge for them.
Those with particular requirements regarding beds and/or lifts/hoists or other special needs, are asked to discuss the matter with us.
There is parking for 2 cars in front of the adjacent garages and a third may be parked in front of the main windows or across Blind Lane on the amenity area.
