Dar Malika (ex-Dar El Hana) is a beautifully restored traditional house with contemporary comforts. 

It's the ideal base from which to explore this World Heritage listed city. 

Located in a quiet street close to souks, restaurants and cafes, Dar Malika is just two minutes' walk from parking. 

The house, or Dar, is more than 300 years old and has been lovingly restored to its former beauty along with the addition of modern bathrooms.

Originally the house of the local Iman, Dar Malika retains features such as the patterned tiled floors, huge cedar doors, wrought iron windows and balconies.

It has been updated to include contemporary comforts such as a private bathroom for each bedroom, comfortable beds, good quality sheets, feather duvets, shampoo, shower gel, soap, Bosch hairdryers and tissues.

It also features Fibre Optic WiFi, electric blankets during winter and reverse cycle air-conditioning in all the bedrooms.

In the main salon is a satellite TV with hundreds of channels available, including English and French ones. Plus there is a Bluetooth speaker, so you can enjoy music from your own digital device. We also have a laundry with a washing machine and dryer.

On the terrace, you can enjoy a meal, or a drink, or a relaxing sunbathe. Or revel in the atmosphere during the call to prayer.

We offer breakfast and dinner on on request and a range of drinks is available for purchase. We can arrange a guide for a tour of the Medina, or a car and driver for trips further afield. We can also organise transfers from the airport or train station at an added cost.

I moved to Fez after falling in love with it while on holiday, and have now been here more than a decade. I bought Dar Malika (then named Dar El Hana) in March 2018, from an Australian friend. It has been a guesthouse for more than a decade, and is well set up for guests. I have added some extra touches to make it an even better base from which to enjoy the Fez Medina.

I have had more than a decade of experience managing holiday rental properties in France.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Suzanna (the owner) a message.

If Suzanna (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
