Description

The Perfect Florentine Retreat is composed by two apartments of about 45mq each, rentable together (for maximum 6 people) or separately.

Garden apartment is composed by a bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower, living room with kitchenette and sofà bed. This apatment has a private area of garden too, perfect for having breakfast and sunbathing.

Studio apartment is a large room with a double bed, bathroom with shower, kitchenette and terrace equipped for have meals outside.

Both apartment are furnished with original antique furniture, Amalfi tiles in bathrooms and kitchenettes. Air conditioned and wifi are available.

The Perfect Florentine Retreat is portion of a Villa of an old tuscan family , surrounded by gardens in a secluded area at only 12 minutes from Forte Belvedere and Boboli Garden entrance, 20 minutes walking distance from the Old Bridge and Piazzale Michelangelo.

Via San Leonardo is a old road and a pleasant walk in the one of the most interesting antique area of Florence.

The composer Tchaikovskij loved Florence and Florentine climate and spent his winters in a villa in Via San Leonardo, less than 100 meters away from us. The famous italian painter of post-macchiaioli, Ottone Rosai had his studio here.

From here you do not need a car for visiting Florence ( historical city center is off-limits for car).

Bus stops are at 100 meters. Parking is free in our private garden .

Owner lives in the other portion of the Villa and she is glad to help you with maps, informations, booking museum tickests....

The Villa is very close (100 m.) to the historic Chalet Fontana, caffé restaurant recently restored with great charme; excellent cuisine, splendid park.

La Terrazza del Principe is at 250 m from house, restaurant with beautiful view, especially at sunset.

At the top of Arcetri's hill at 600 m. from house there are the old restaurant-trattoria Omero, serving typical tasteful tuscan food.

“Fabulous, relaxing retreat!”

I chose this location because of previous reviews about the retreat and about the owner, Laura. Those reviews turned out to be correct. The apartments were fabulous but what put this place over the top was Laura. She was kind and caring and did everything to make our stay more than enjoyable! We came as family and friends for my daughter's wedding. She was marrying a man from Florence whose family lived in Florence. We rented one apartment for 2 weeks for my husband and myself and another for one week for friends coming in for the wedding. The temperatures were hovering close to 100 degrees for the entire two weeks. My daughter and future husband were planning to stay with his parents prior to the wedding, but their place did not have air conditioning. Laura opened up her the second apartment to them for the full two weeks so that they could relax and enjoy the wedding preparations. We could not thank her enough for her kindness and caring. If you want to stay in a place that gives you a feel for true Tuscan living in the city, this is the place, it is beautiful. As other reviewers have said it is outside the city center so it is a bit of a walk or bus ride in but it is a very relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. When we return to Florence we will be sure to stay with Laura!

“Right place, wrong weather”

I booked this villa on location (we prefer to stay on the outskirts of major cities, rather than in them), and the reviews on Tripadvisor. Both units were available for rent, and originally I booked the downstairs apartment with separate bedroom. Upon arrival, Laura, the lovely and gracious Laura, showed us both the upstairs accommodation and the apartment. We decided on the apartment due to the open feel, the rustic look and the balcony, where we dreamed of spending lazy breakfasts in the warmth of a Tuscan sun. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn, and no sooner did we arrive, did the heavens open up and the rain graced us from thereon in for the better part of our stay. The temps were moderate, but it's the darkness of the sky, that didn't do Laura's place justice. Being a converted hayloft, it was already dark by nature and the lighting available was poor. It's a minor gripe, and I'm sure had we been there when the sun was shining this wouldn't have been an issue. But more on the villa. Upon arrival Laura had provided us with milk, coffee, cereal, bread, condiments and wine along with a big bowl of fruit. What a wonderful gesture on her part. I can't tell you how often we've had to spend our first day looking for a grocery store so we could prepare breakfast the following morning. The bed is a small double with rather stiff pillows. The kitchen is sufficient for preparing breakfast, but I wouldn't want to cook dinner in there. We had no problems using the induction plate, but the manner to brew your coffee on the plate was somewhat fussy. (but being coffee lovers,we managed and had excellent espresso every day.) The bathroom and shower were fine. Being tall, the mirror placement is a little odd, but that was soon fixed by sitting on the stool provided. The balcony is wonderful, and we would have enjoyed it so much more had the weather been better. Some have mentioned that the advantage the apartment has over the loft is the private entry. To be honest, the entry to the loft felt private and it gave us ample opportunity to take in the front hall with it's multitude of framed pictures an ambiance. The location is about a 25 minute walk (downhill) to Florence. It's a lovely walk and the walk back (uphill of course), was actually appreciated after the pasta and gelato. One piece of advice--if you rent a car, rent as small a car as possible. Laura does provide parking, but it's awkward to get through the gate, and I'm guessing with a bigger car, it'd be nearly impossible. You can also park on the street, but again, a small car is a necessity. The location is perfect. It provided easy access to Florence, making a car unnecessary. (believe me, you won't want to drive in Florence!) We needed a car, because we spent most of our time in other towns and villages of Tuscany. The location also lent itself perfectly for getting quickly on the highways without having to make your way through the centre. Florence is nice, and if you're an art enthusiast, you'll be plenty pleased. But for us, the real pleasure and beauty of Tuscany came when we left the city for smaller, quaint and stunning villages dotted all about. Laura's villa is quirky and we like that. Having given up the sterile perfection of hotel suites long ago, and renting apartments in the heart of where we travel, amongst those that live there, has changed our experiences for the better. No longer mere travellers, we feel more like temporary residents. What more could you ask for?

“Perfect Stay”

Our stay at Laura's home couldn't have been more perfect for us. She is indeed a very accommodating Hostess, from the moment we arrived she made us feel welcome. The house is located on the #12 bus route from the train station in a quieter lovely area of Florence yet just a 15 minute walk downhill brings you to the Ponte Vecchio. We also spent evenings at the Piazza Michaelangelo which was walkable from the apt. There is also a great restaurant (a bit pricey) but so worth it on the corner. We stayed in the studio with a lovely balcony to sip morning coffee, kitchen was adequate though we were only there for breakfast. The photos are accurate. It was very relaxing to stay here after the crowds downtown, we always had a great night's sleep and as a very special memory, Laura made a beautiful birthday cake for my husband and left it on our front step. I would not hesitate to stay here again if we were to return to Florence.

Located just outside town, this charming cottage has two apartments and we rented them both. Laura is the perfect hostess, charming and helpful. Having both apartments gave us lots of options. The upper unit has a lovely large dinging table which accommodated the four of us for evening meals after long days of sightseeing. We had a car to travel out to the countryside and chose to take a taxi into town when visiting Florence (about 10 €) but there is a bus also available. Laura introduced us to a fabulous restaurant nearby with lovely views when dining outside, our visit to Florence could not have been better. Thank you Laura.

We had a wonderful stay. The walk to the city was an easy and lovely 20 monutes. The walk back, though 10 min longer and much of it uphill, was still lovely. Plus, the fort, whiich is on the way, has a bar with a great view.

We stayed here for a week in May. We loved the apartment, it was clean, spacious, with a little terrace where we were able to sit and have our meals (there is also a large dining table inside). It was very peaceful. The apartment is situated in a quiet location about a 15-20 minute walk from the centre of Florence. There are also regular buses within a very short walk. Lucia was very helpful, a great host. We found the hob for cooking confusing to use so didn't do as much self catering as we intended, but this was only a very small minus and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Perfect Florentine Retreat. We spent around 25 days travelling in Italy and this apartment and Florence and the surrounding area were one of the highlights of our trip. We would certainly stay here again, we loved it.

My wife and I along with our adult daughter stayed for 4 nights. The owner has two in suit apartments to rent. Our daughter stayed in the garden apartment while my wife and I took the studio bedroom apartment. The accommodations were wonderful. It is a beautiful location just outside the city. Laura was very hospitable, and she has a very nice family. If you are arriving by plane or train and are planning to only tour around Florence, you may want to consider taking a taxi to and from this accommodation rather than renting a car. It is a very short walk to the bus stop which allows easy access to the city. And, walking down the road to the city is very enjoyable as well. We purchased the Firenze card which provided us access to all the major sites and bus transportation. If we travel to Florence again, we will be sure to stay at The Perfect Florentine Retreat.

Two of us recently stayed for 6 nights in the Garden Apartment. Everything was perfect for us. A great location, calm and tranquil away from the tourists but behind the Boboli Gardens and Pitti Palace. Only a 20 minute walk to all the sites in the centre of Florence with the bus stop only a minute away, The apartment is beautifully appointed and is like staying in a villa in the country. Laura is a gracious and a most helpful host and went out of her way for us. We will be recommending this to all our friends, and will definitely stay here the next time we come to Florence. There is also another apartment with a beautiful rooftop terrace which also looks fantastic. Grazie Laura.

Mrs Martelli's house is located in what some people call "The Beverley Hills of Florence". You can get there a real feel of Tuscany (cypresses, pine and olive-trees, gorgeous villas on the hills), yet it takes you 20 minutes on the bus to get to the touristy heart of the Florence. The landlady is delightful. She makes you feel at home in her house. Just have a look at the pictures: they are true to life.

We spent 4 nights with our 3 year old and had a lovely stay despit the heat of August. Laura was very hospitable and welcoming. The apartment is located up a hill, so walking down in to Florence is very easy, down one long cobbled street all the way to the Ponte Vecchio. After a long hot day in Florence best get the bus back up the hill, its all very easy and relax in the garden and apartment.
