Description from owner

Set in the heart of a traditional Greek village beside a leafy park with a picturesque river and surrounded by orange groves. It is secluded yet close to (50m) a selection of excellent tavernas and small shops with very friendly local people. It is the ideal location for relaxing or for exploring the island. A beautiful beach nearby and wonderful views of the mountains complete the idyll.

We are an English couple who live here all year round and we will be delighted to help you enjoy your holiday to the full. Tell us what you want--walking, bird watching, eating and drinking, golf, sightseeing, boat trips, watersports or just plain 'chilling out'!

Very Good

“Gorgeous views and pool in a lovely apartment”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2018

We had a very enjoyable week here and Ken was on hand when needed. The apartment is on the edge of Fodele village which has some very good tavernas and minimarkets. The apartment has everything you need and air conditioning. The pool area is clean and well kept with prooer steps down in to the pool The view of the mountains from the front balcony is fabulous and at the back you are next door to the church. It is rural with goats, sheep and hens, but not far from the main road and the lovely Fodele beach. A great place to relax and enjoy Crete.

Response from the owner Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed the stay K

“We just love coming back.”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2012

We have just booked Verbena for a third time. We would have booked it when we came in May but it wasn't available. Mandarin Grove is a beautifully maintained complex, and Verbena has everything that we could ask for; clean, tidy, stunning view looking over orange trees to the hills from the balcony, at a good price. Ken & Helen were the perfect “local guides” offering us useful information about the area. We went on various local walks in the hills and just love coming back.

“A great stay in a typical Greek village - Bliss”

Reviewed 28 May 2012

This is a beautiful little complex of only about 10 apartments. It has a little roof terrace and an outdoor pool surrounded by tables, chairs and parasols, plus a BBQ. The complex itself is set alongside the village stream, and a two minute walk across the bridge brings you to the many restaurants of this lovely working village. The apartments are surrounded by mandarin groves to the front and the local school to one side, and the local church at the bottom of the back garden. Beware of the call to church on a Sunday! It's very loud, but just typically Greek. Our apartment was a one bedroom apartment, which had a nice airy bedroom with its only balcony complete with chairs. There was a built in wardrobe complete with iron and ironing board, plus a chest of drawers, so plenty of storage. There was a wet room (remember to remove the loo roll before putting the shower on!). Then in the lounge kitchen area, there was a sofa, which converts into a bed, plus a mini oven, tv/dvd player, and sufficient crockery for your stay. There was also a shelf full of books for you to read during your stay. From this living area there was a balcony complete with table and chairs and clothes dryer, which looked over the mandarin grove and the hills. Beautifully scenic. It is about 2 miles from the nearest beach but it is downhill. We hired a car, but I don't suppose you need one unless you want to get to the beach, although you could walk downhill and hope someone will give you a lift coming back up, which they often do. We did hire a car, however we didn't bother going to one of the bigger supermarkets, we made do with the local butcher, baker and little supermarket, to keep the revenue in the village. We loved it so much we are heading back there in June 2012. Pictures to follow when I've loaded them on my computer
