Wishing Well is a cottage wing at Burgate Farmhouse (Certificate of Excellence awarded by TripAdvisor for 10 consecutive years, including HALL OF FAME status + Travellers' Choice for 2023). It is a 15th century listed farmhouse & is situated about half a mile north of Fordingbridge town centre & is just a 5 minute drive from the edge of the New Forest & near the A338 Ringwood to Salisbury road, making it an ideal central location for touring. The entrance from the courtyard leads into the fully equipped kitchen which has a breakfast bar/4 stools. A sliding door separates the kitchen from the cosy beamed sitting/dining room. The 'smart' TV has a DVD player & Freeview. There is a small extra WC downstairs (access is not ideal but it's useful for children). Stairs lead up to 3 bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a double bed & single bed (+ extra colour TV/Freeview/DVD player) It is accessed through the 2nd bedroom. The 2nd bedroom is twin bedded (double & single). In between these rooms is a large walk-in wardrobe. Both these rooms have lovely original beams. The 3rd bedroom along the corridor is smaller with sloped ceiling & pine bunk beds. The bathroom has a bath with shower over & a washbasin. There is a separate WC upstairs. Wishing Well is ideally suited for family accommodation. It is not ideal for a party consisting of 6 adults. (NB the extra beds mean that there is sleeping for more than 6 people. However, this is intended to give more flexibility with sleeping arrangements & not to increase capacity. This is because the lounge/dining room is better suited for 6. There is no charge for bed linen (towels can be hired if wanted), cot or highchair. Other baby/toddler equipment is available to borrow (no charge). 2 well behaved medium sized dogs are welcome in Wishing Well. There is a small charge of £10 per dog per stay (NB dogs not to be left unattended in property without prior agreement with owner. Electricity is by meter (low charges). A small charge is made to use the washing machine/tumble drier. Heating is by storage heaters with 'top up' convector heaters where needed. No smoking is permitted inside but is OK outside or in the Games Barn. There is plenty of space for parking on the large gravel area between the cottages & the garden. The half acre garden is mainly lawn & trees & has a summer house, garden furniture, swings & BBQ. There is an area for children's ball games with a football net. (NB the wishing well in the garden is ornamental only - no water, only plants!) Free WiFi access is available. The Games Barn is a wonderful retreat for rainy days as well as being a spacious meeting place for larger parties. It contains a skittle alley, pool table, table tennis, dart board & lots of children's toys. Why not book an online grocery delivery for the morning of your arrival - everything will be unpacked & put away for you. Fordingbridge town centre is half a mile away. The George Inn, near the bridge, has a beer garden overlooking the River Avon is good for meals & snacks. Little Thatch is also available to rent (sleeps 2-4 in 1 bedroom with a bed-settee in the lounge). If you have a larger group or extended family then this could work for you.

Good location for visiting areas in New Forest. Accommodation very clean and well maintained. Friendly welcoming owner. Very dog friendly. You couldn't ask for anything more.

Why can't I call Christine (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How can I view and manage my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to view all your booking details, pay the balance of your holiday or cancel it if you need to.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.

We’ll automatically charge the balance payment to the same payment method 10 days before it’s due. Go to Manage my holiday booking to see when the payment will be taken.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Christine (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Christine (the owner) a message.

If Christine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
