Giardini di Marzo is a donkey farm and bed & breakfast guesthouse and is plunged in an area cultivated with olive, fig and almond trees between the Valle d'Itria (valley of trulli) and Salento, in the immediate vicinity of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas (about 35 minutes by car). The strategic position of our estate, situated right in the countryside, offers an excellent starting point for excursions to historic and cultural sites of Apulia, like Lecce, Alberobello, Ostuni ecc., as well as for walking, cycling or donkey trekking. On request, we organize individual excursions to interesting tourism locations of the region, food and wine excursions and trekking, possibly accompanied by Ute. She will share her experience as a tourist guide for the Apulia region.
In each period of the year we offer cooking lessons guided by the expert hands of Mario's cousins and aunts. You will learn how to prepare the typical orecchiette or the focaccia pugliese (a variety of stuffed pizza); we will collect fruit and vegetables together in our garden and make jams (figs and oranges with fresh mint), liqueurs with lemon or with prickly pears!!! (fichi d'India), and many other gourmet specialities.
The apartment for guests of the Giardini di Marzo is in the country house. The main entrance opens to a room with the accesses to the apartment Asinelli family suite x max. 4 persons. The large common room is available to all guests for breakfast or for reading. You will find books on Apulia and there is a Wifi-Zone. Outside there is a parking area, a covered terrace and of course the garden itself, breathing relaxation with stone benches and deck chairs under the olive trees, in the midst of flowerbeds.
Our apartment are equipped without air conditioning designed following an organic and intelligent method so as to guarantee (both in summer and winter) a temperate, healthy, optimum ventilation. The rooms have been renovated in traditional style, with barrel vaults or cross vaults, little niches, masonry benches and floors tiled with regional stone. Each apartment has skirting board heating, wooden window frames with integrated mosquito net and an electrical system (especially in the bedrooms) installed in such a manner as not to affect human health. The bathroom is comfortable and ergonomically designed, with spacious shower cabins, shelves, coat racks, etc. The pieces of furniture differ one to another and are original, emphasis is on natural materials such as wood, stone or natural fibres.
