3 charming casitas nestled in a tranquil sea of olives. Guidebook recommended. A renovated Cortijo, Las Rosas offers 3 individual casitas inspected, recommended and featured in the guidebook 'Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay in Spain'.
The three casitas can also be linked via their internal courtyards to provide an excellent location for families looking to share (to a total of 10/12 guests).
An hour and a half from the airports of Malaga and Granada, the secluded setting of Cortijo las Rosas, amidst tranquil olive groves, gives guests a chance to chill out and relax around the pool between days out visiting historic and cultural centres within easy reach: Antequera, Alcala la Real, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Ronda, Seville etc...
Casita Liebre (meaning Little Hare House) is reached through the original farmyard doors leading onto the private courtyard.
Accessed from the courtyard via french doors, the accommodation is based in the oldest part of the reformed Cortijo, with low beamed ceilings and niches retained from the original building. The old walls are thick, providing coolness in the summer and retaining warmth in the winter. There is a lounge, with large comfortable Moorish style divan sofas and a log burner for cool winter evenings. There are two ensuite bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. There is seating in the private courtyard for outside dining, with a barbecue.
Taste the oil produced from the renowned olives of the Subbetica , enjoy the local wines from Montilla or the Anis produced in nearby Rute; barbecue the plentiful fish and seafood available or let us organise a takeaway from nearby Molino los Justos with its traditional “home cooking.” Our local town, Algarinejo, boasts the restaurant Las Piolas which features in Jon Clarke’s “Dining Secrets of Andalucía” – their Menu de Degustación is an experience not to be missed!
Nearby Lake Iznajar offers a beach with pedalos and kayaks for hire with a beach bar on hand for cool drinks or eating. Other activities, such as cycling, horseback riding, pony treks and bird watching can be arranged for you by your hosts.
Walkers have the freedom to explore the countryside of the Subbetica Natural Park right from their doorstep - or to walk amongst the extraordinary rock formations of El Torcal. El Chorro Gorge offers the adventurous a chance to experience the spectacular Camino del Rey...or to trek around our local “mesa” overlooking the lake, and examine the archaeological dig carried out by the University of Granada – you might have to share the view with the goatherd and his goats...
Allow Cortijo las Rosas to help you unwind, enjoy an unspoilt Andalucía and guide you to its historic treasures.
