A renovated Cortijo, Las Rosas offers 3 individual casitas inspected, recommended and featured in the guidebook 'Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay in Spain'.
The three casitas can also be linked via their internal courtyards to provide an excellent location for families looking to share (to a total of 10/12 guests).
An hour and a half from the airports of Malaga and Granada, the secluded setting of Cortijo las Rosas, amidst tranquil olive groves, gives guests a chance to chill out and relax around the pool between days out visiting historic and cultural centres within easy reach: Antequera, Alcala la Real, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Ronda, Seville etc...
.
Casita Galgo (meaning Little Greyhound house) provides spacious, comfortable and airy accommodation.
Access is through an original door into the private courtyard where you can enjoy wining and dining in the sun!
On the ground floor is a large twin bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, walk in shower, toilet, basin and window. The bedroom has two large windows, one looking out over the valley and the other into the courtyard, allowing for cooling cross breezes.
There are outside stairs leading up to the open plan living area, giving the best views from the entire cortijo through the three large windows. There is a comfortable sofa, satellite television and a wood burner for cooler evenings.
The fully equipped kitchen area has an electric oven/ hob plus a fridge with a small freezer compartment: essential for cooling the local beer and wine! (Our barn, situated beside the pool has more fridge and freezer space for our guests). A good range of plates, pots, glasses etc. allow for home from home, relaxed food preparation.
Basics (such as salt, pepper, oil, washing up liquid etc.) are provided as part of our service. There is a kitchen table to seat two for dining.
Outside and downstairs there is a private courtyard surrounded by traditional high white walls.. You are not overlooked by the other casitas. There is a covered shady area for really hot summer days, patio furniture and a barbecue based in the chimney breast of what was the original outside kitchen: make the most of the outside living for which sunny Andalucia is justifiably famous!
Taste the oil produced from the renowned olives of the Subbetica , enjoy the local wines from Montilla or the Anis produced in nearby Rute; barbecue the plentiful fish and seafood available or let us organise a takeaway from nearby Molino los Justos with its traditional “home cooking.” Our local town, Algarinejo, boasts the restaurant Las Piolas which features in Jon Clarke’s “Dining Secrets of Andalucía” – their Menu de Degustación is an experience not to be missed!
Nearby Lake Iznajar offers a beach with pedalos and kayaks for hire with a beach bar on hand for cool drinks or eating. Other activities, such as cycling, horseback riding, pony treks and bird watching can be arranged for you by your hosts.
Walkers have the freedom to explore the countryside of the Subbetica right from their doorstep - or to walk amongst the extraordinary rock formations of El Torcal. El Chorro Gorge offers the adventurous a chance to experience the spectacular Camino del Rey...or to trek around our local “mesa” overlooking the lake, and examine the archaeological dig carried out by the University of Granada – you might have to share the view with the goatherd and his goats...
Allow Cortijo las Rosas to help you unwind, enjoy an unspoilt Andalucía and guide you to its historic treasures.
