Casa Mosaica Is a very unusual and stunning, Moorish-style property in the vibrant and celebrated hill top village of Gaucin, one of the ‘Pueblos Blancos’ of Andalucia; a pretty, traditional village, with spectacular views to Africa, where donkeys are still working and local festivities are enthusiastically celebrated.
Hidden behind an anonymous façade is the private, and surprisingly large Casa Mosaica. Unseen from the busy street, the peaceful scented garden is full of exotic palms, jasmines, bougainvillea, mosaics and fountains; the pretty swimming pool in its own courtyard is just what you long for after the heat and bustle of village life a trip to the Mediterranean coast 29kms away or nearby Ronda.
Situated on the Ronda side of the village and easy to find, with parking on the street outside, Casa Mosaica is perfectly placed for guests to walk to the shops as well as the many restaurants and charming tapas bars in the narrow lanes of Gaucin.
Casa Mosaica consists of the self-contained two bedroom 'Casa Mosaica Apartment' on the ground floor of the main building, which is self-catering and sleeps up to 4 adults and a baby, and the owner's flat on the first floor. The swimming pool courtyard and the Moorish garden are shared with the romantic hideaway for two 'Casita Mosaica'. New is the possibility of renting both La Casita and the apartment together to give families a lovely space and privacy, please contact owner for further details.
Casa Mosaica is the home of a UK based designer who specialises in mosaics and her 2 friendly house cats, Kevin and Geoffrey. As the house name suggests, Casa and Casita Mosaica are filled with a diverse range of uniquely beautiful hand-made mosaics, these along with the antique furniture, Moroccan rugs, lanterns and attention to every detail give Casa Mosaica its distinctive style and uniqueness as a rental property.
It is the owners intention for visitors at Casa Mosaica to feel as comfortable and relaxed as they would in their own home, whilst enjoying the sunshine and excitement of a holiday in Andalucia.
"A dream home away from home".
Architecturally inspired by a tower in the Kasbah of Tangier, the self-catering Casita has a very special charm and a wonderful feeling of space and privacy for two people.
With it's own entrance from the busy village street it is situated in the shared scented garden and a moments walk from the swimming pool courtyard. A mature palm tree gives shade to the Casita's private patio garden with banquette, table, chairs and sun-beds.
Entering through the cedar door the entrance hall has a stunning mosaic floor and opens onto the double height kitchen and dining room; there are doors to the patio for outdoor eating. The comfortable sitting room has a wood-burning stove for cooler weather, fast fiber optic wifi, Smart TV with some European channels, and audio cables to speakers. The kitchen is fully fitted with a dishwasher and there is also a washing machine for guests use.
Upstairs the bedroom has a king size bed (150 x 200 cms) and pretty windows looking out over the garden. The sunny bathroom is fitted with a tadelakt bath, and a hand made mirror mosaic in the shower.
The terrace at the top of the tower room has a comfortable day bed, a small kitchen and a drinks fridge. Stunning views towards Cortes de la Frontera and the Sierra in one direction and the tiled roofs of Gaucin in the other, it is a magical place to catch the last sun of the day, relax with a bottle of wine or sleep under the stars on a hot July night.
The Casita can of course also be rented in the winter months when there are many things to do in the area, like hiking, cycling and riding; there is a new and very well equipped gym in the village and there are walking clubs to join and birdwatching. The house can be made cosy in the winter as there is a wood burning stove with plenty of wood provided, the stove heats the radiators throughout the house when it's up to temperature, central heating is provided in the mornings and an electric blanket for the bed. Bring slippers and a dressing gown, the mosaic and cement floors are cold in the winter.
