Beautiful chateau with private pool in a magnificent setting. Well maintained, with eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and vast living spaces indoors and out, this is the perfect place for family and friends to share a memorable holiday, enjoy time together and explore the area. The perfect venue for your yoga retreat or artists workshop. If you're coming from the UK, the TGV rail service direct from London to Avignon has made getting to this part of Provence even easier.

Set in woodland with stunning views from every window, the vineyards of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise encircle the chateau. This property and its lovely gardens have plenty of space for groups of family or friends to have fun together in a very private setting.

The house has been renovated to a high standard and is just waiting to be enjoyed. The pool terrace and barbecue are always favourites and there are some lovely spots around the garden, inviting a pause to enjoy the view.

The full time caretaker on site looks after pool and grounds, so there is always someone on hand if you have any questions.

The village of Vacqueyras is exactly a mile away, with a baker, butcher, pharmacy, newsagent, greengrocer, small weekly market and a good restaurant. There is a larger supermarket just 5 miiles/8km away. For wine-lovers, the local winemakers of the Cotes du Rhone Villages are waiting to offer you a tasting of their fine wines.

This place is perfect for those who like to stay in one place and relax for a change on holiday.

For those who like to get out and about a bit more, the vast Provencal markets of Vaison la Romaine and Carpentras are a great way to spend a morning shopping for produce and souvenirs. There are no fewer than three Unesco World Heritage Sites - The Pont du Gard, the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange, and the Palais des Papes in Avignon - within an hour's drive. And in summer, the festivals of Avignon (theatre and comedy), Orange (music) and Vaison (dance) are not to be missed. Getting around

Public transport is in short supply but the nearest village - and its shops and restaurants - are accessible on foot. If you have guests arriving by train, and are short of time to pick them up at Avignon, there is a new spur line that runs to Carpentras and the nearest station at Monteux is just 20 minutes away by car.

Interaction with guest

There is always someone - usually the owner - to offer you a warm welcome on arrival at Villa Theophile, and a resident caretaker to look after the pool and grounds. He can also undertake any additional cleaning you may wish for during your stay (there is a cost for this service).

“Gorgeous, well-appointed villa and great hospitality!”

Our family of 13 adults and children just returned from a wonderful two week stay at the Villa Theophile. The villa had absolutely every essential and more. On the rare occasion that we needed something, Phillipa, the owner and Ian and John, the caretakers, were responsive, friendly and helpful but never intrusive. (Thanks again for the late night birthday candle lighter, John!). The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and all uniquely beautiful. Our favorite spot was the pool area though. Great views, great deck chairs and lounge furniture and a big, glorious saltwater pool! We were in town for Vacqueyras' Fete des Vins. It was a really fun way to taste many great wines and to see how spirited this little village community is. We hope to be back soon!

Just back from a stay at Villa Theophile and as with other guests I can't say enough complimentary things about the place and our host, Phillipa. The Villa is immense yet all rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed; every detail has been thought out. Site seeing and food recommendations were outstanding. Highlights of my visit that will change my life: the espresso machine and the cheese course. Brava!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
