Description

The Villa is value for money, offering a private pool 6m x 3m, air conditioning in Living room, Wi-fi, and free to air Satellite TV. The nearest amenities are a 6 minutes drive (8Km). The Cottage is 200 metres from the main country road that takes you into the local town of Coin. The Villa is located in a beautiful part of the Andalucian countryside in fact just inside the Natural Park Sierra de las Nieves with Ronda only 60 minutes away and only 30 minutes to Marbella.

Guaro is located on the east side of Sierra de las Nieves. It has numerous springs and the Rio Grande river. Since ancient times it has been a crossroads and a stop for travelers, because of lying between the interior mountains and the Costa del Sol.

The origin of Guaro is found in the confluence of cultures: Iberians, romans, visigoths and arabs left their mark on the fertile plains of the Rio Grande. Over time, the population was concentrated in the present location further from the river but well supplied

Over time, the population was concentrated in the present location further from the river but well supplied with fonts, resulting in what is now known as Villa de Guaro.

The varied geography found in the term has been continuously shaped by man since prehistoric times until today. The result of this interaction is the biodiversity in different ecosystems such as forest, dry land in terraces, narrow river beds and the extensive Rio Grande Valley and its irrigated land.

Throughout history, the local way of life has been closely linked to rural areas. Cattle and agriculture have led to the livelihood of the majority of households until recent decades. Today, however, the only evidence of livestock are two goatherds.

Regarding agriculture, it still survives, although the population does not longer depends on it. The almond has been a source of income, but its cultivation has declined. Anyway, the blossom of the almonds in the months of January and February is one of the most beautiful pictures of the Sierra de las Nieves.

The olive tradition endures based on the explotation of small plots, similar to that of organic farming. The four mills of yesteryear have given way to a modern mill, El Molino de Guaro, which prepares an extra virgin olive oil of high quality.

Guaro's residents remember life in the field and now look towards a new era based on tourism, offering visitors their natural hospitality. This sector is emerging as the economic alternative.

In view of the current situation, the village of Guaro is firmly committed to quality as an objective to add value to its natural, cultural and tourism heritage. We started the project "Cultural Village Guaro" in which the Luna Mora Festival stands out because of it's importance and immediate success.

Guaro boasts today one of the largest open-air auditoriums in the province, designed to host large orchestras, dance, opera and theater. This scenario contains the various acts of the new cultural offer. The Luna Mora Festival has here a great significance.

Another major tourist resort is the Al-Andalus Cultural Center, an old mill which has been converted into an ethnographic museum, a tourist information office, a shop and an andalusian patio.

In addition to these projects there are worth a visit the typical streets of the old quarter, heritage of the arabic time, the church of San Miguel and the chapels Cruz del Puerto and San Isidro. All this, combined with a precious natural environment, a wide range of hotels and rural cottages, and all the different festivals and cultural events turn Guaro into a tourist destination of great interest.

We are waiting for you to come to Guaro!
