LaoJia 老家 is a fully revived and restored countryside home, nestled amongst Yangshuo County's Li River Valley landscape. This residence and its setting are one-of-a-kind, and the experience of living in a remote (accessible only by bamboo boat) Chinese village will be equally memorable. Here are a few details that we believe will make your stay something special.
Local Life.
Find yourself wandering the Qing Dynasty hallways, living amongst the locals in a historic fishing and farming village. Eat healthy fruits and vegetables from family gardens, fresh-caught fish from the river, and drink water straight from the mountain aquifer. Get lost in the orange groves, collect firewood with local grandmothers, and scale the hills to herd goats with shepherds.
Historic Craftsmanship.
See Chinese craftsmanship at its finest. This stone, wood, and brick home has been standing proud for more than 250 years. Our careful 6-month renovation has ensured the continued life and enjoyment of the residence in its original beauty.
Epic Scenery.
Located on the waterfront of Yangshuo's most immaculate stretch of the Li River, the landscape will speak for itself. The backdrop of famously ominous mountains that tower above the village can be seen from the open-air living room. Gorgeous and challenging mountain hikes, quiet riverside walks, and peaceful wandering through the fruit plantations are right outside of our door.
Find Peace.
Our place has been designed with an aura of peace in mind. Come here to be taken care of; to decompress from city life and absorb the countryside around you. Read, write, meditate, and be free in a welcoming setting.
Modern Comfort.
While preserving the authentic architecture, we've made the upgrades that are necessary for comfortable living. With an eye for European design, the house has been outfitted with all of the amenities including a modest kitchen that guests are free to use. And the internet is fast enough to accommodate those who might be bringing their work life with them.
