Greystones is atraditional stone cottage in the heart of the peaceful Swaledale village of Gunnerside. It has been beautifully restored and sympathetically decorated and furnished. The cottage is spread over three floors, with a bright master bedroom. Its attic conversion houses a spacious third double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room and WC, and plenty of room for children to play. There is a magnificent stone fireplace with newly installed wood burning stove, and stripped pine floor in the living room, and plenty of modern conveniences, including Free Sat, ipod docking stations & a fully equipped kitchen. Greystones has an attractive charm and high level of comfort for your holiday in beautiful Swaledale!

It is an Ideal base for walking and cycling, the route of the 2014 Tour de France came right past the door. Also close to C2C walk, Inns Way & Pennine Way.

Less than 100m to the local pub, the newly refurbished Kings Head, which does excellent food and beer & is also close to the tearoom/bistro. Reeth with pubs, cafes, bakers, shops & cash point is only 6 miles.

All of the bedrooms have storage heaters, there are additional electric heaters and hot water bottles. A high chair and travel cost are available.

There is a small patio area in front of house with a bench, overlooking village square. Kitchen door opens out onto additional small flagged area. There is a storage space for bikes in lockable outhouse, wood is kept here. Gravelled area to side can be used for parking one small car. A small portable BBQ is available.

Linen and towels are included. Heating costs included together with 1 or 2 bags of logs for the stove, depending on length of stay.

“Peaceful stay in the Dales”

My family and I selected this rental property for a weekend away as it accepted dogs and was in the Yorkshire Dales, an area of the country we love visiting. Upon arrival the house was clean and 3 double rooms were available for the use of our family, and our dog. The bedroom on the top floor even has it's own ensuite facilities. The living room has a TV with basic SKY TV package, a stereo & a DVD player. There also a selection of books & DVDs on the bookshelf. The kitchen area has a dining table for 4 with microwave, oven & electric hob. Although we only really made use at breakfast time due to being out & about all day. There is also a utility room with washing machine & drying facilities. If you move the bin & plant pots there is room to park a small vehicle at the side of the property, but we usually found there was room to park directly in front of the property. There were a few touches we felt that could have increased the score to a maximum such as the volume of cables around the house could do with reducing and the number of fire alarms increasing (we only noticed 1 in the property). Upon booking any questions we had were always promptly answered by the property owners, thus making our stay trouble free. Gunnerside is a tiny place which is very peaceful, so if you want a break from "the rat race" it's perfect. I can recommend a trip over to The Kings Head which is directly opposite Greystones. You'll receive a friendly welcome, they serve nice food and hold a quiz on Sunday evenings. Also, a mobile fish & chip van visits on Friday evenings at approx 7:40pm. We decided to have some food from it and really enjoyed our meal. If you rely on your mobile phone there is a lack of signal in the locality, but Greystones does have WiFi provided. Also, you can gain mobile signal a few miles down the road if you visit the likes of Reeth or Hawes. In all our visit to Greystones provided what we wanted, a lovely short break in the Yorkshire Dales.

“A Simply Excellent stay.”

Stayed with my family last week at this cottage in Gunnerside, and it’s a simply beautiful location. The cottage has a lot of Character And is great to be in the heart of the small village. Very clean and perfect for a weeks stay in the Dales with the family :) It’s 30 minute drive from the town of Richmond with plenty of walks around that area and perfect if you have dogs. So many lovely places to visit in the Dales, including the 3 peaks, Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, and Malham Cove (picture) A lovely stay and will be returning back :)

“Cozy characterful cottage”

we had a lovely weekend in Gunnerside. The cottage is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, and it was lovely and warm. Fabulous walking country and excellent friendly pub in the village. What more do you need for a perfect weekend getaway!

“Lovely new year break”

Visited over new year and I have to say I was so happy when we arrived. It’s quite a bit bigger than the pictures online show and the rooms are nice sizes. Beds were extremely comfy! I was a little worried about how cold it would be as I had read there was no heating, only the log burner and some electrical heaters however there was no need to be worried. The first night I had to turn most of the heaters off as we were too hot and the final night we didn’t even bother lighting the fire as we found it warm enough with just the heater on in the living room. There are some excellent views from the village and a lovely little pub straight across the road. Food was delicious here and dogs are welcomed which is a must for us. The one Thing I did struggle with was the hot water. We found if you didn’t have a shower first, the second person would be left with Luke warm or freezing cold water, especially if you were getting ready mid morning after a late breakfast. So if you want a later shower I would recommend the very top shower or waiting until early afternoon. For it to warm again. (However this did not effect our stay or views on the cottage) The cottage is equipped with everything you need it was like home from home. If I was to make a suggestion about anything it would have been nice to have some tea and coffee supplies. Unfortunately we forgot to bring tea bags which we did not realise until waking up our first morning and there are no shops in walking distance, the tea room was also closed. All in all it was a really enjoyable break and would love to visit again

Absolutely amazing!!! A beautiful village in a stunning and wonderful location. Our accomodation is far beyond what we imaged. The house has so much character and is extremely well equipped, it’s a pleasure to stay here. We will definitely be back!

“A lovely stay, in rain and snow and sun...”

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, characterful house. The log burner was homely when there was snow on the ground; equally, Gunnerside Gill was beautiful in the spring sunshine. We enjoyed some lovely (if muddy) walks. The village pub provided a warm welcome, good food and a fun pub quiz on the Sunday evening.

“A comfortable home in a beautiful location!”

Gunnerside is lovely village in the heart of Swaledale, one of the most impressive dales in Yorkshire. The house is ideally situated in the heart of the village opposite the friendly village pub. Reeth, about 7 miles away has all the amenities you need to provide your basic provisions. Greystones is a traditional house, very well appointed and well maintained. We had a lovely stay!

How do damage deposits work?
