From the owner

Nettlebed is an amazing cottage with outstanding views over Swaledale. It has a huge garden, perfect for visiting dogs, and is in an isolated rural location. The house has central heating from a Rayburn, which is also the oven, and has a wonderful open fire in an old-fashioned gorgeous range in the living room, all coal included (logs available to buy in Reeth). The kitchen has been newly refurbished with a new induction hob, new full size dishwasher, under counter fridge and the windows worked on to stop up gaps! There is also a microwave and fridge/freezer (smallish freezer) in the pantry, and washing machine and belfast sink in the stable.

Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, along with a family bathroom, which has a shower over the bath, WC and basin. The second dble bedroom also has a sgle bed in it, and also an extra pullout sgle guest bed, so the whole house can accommodate up to 8 people in all, although there is only one bathroom. The pullout guest bed can be moved to a different bedroom if necessary, but guests are requested to return it to under the sgle bed in 2nd bedroom on departure, to save the busy housekeeper having to manoeuvre it by herself along the landing!

The cottage is totally surrounded by pasture and fields, up a gravelled track from a single track road between Low Row and Gunnerside bridge top, near Crackpot.

All linen and towels included and there is a travel cot (guests are requested to fold it back down on departure).

Most cars can get up the track most of the time, but if it's particularly wet, snowy or icy, car can be left further down the track near the road, as long as the farmer can get his tractor past to feed the sheep.

Dogs welcome (under control when near sheep), sleeps 6/8, free wifi, sorry no smoking, landline at cottage (honesty box).

Pets are welcome on the strict understanding that they are not allowed upstairs or or furniture (there is no extra charge for dogs).
Arrival time is 3pm, departure time is strictly 10am.
Guests are required to leave the cottage clean and tidy, no washing up draining, dishwasher emptied, and it would be a great help if you could strip the beds used.

Correct, the track is tricky in winter, but yes, it's fine to leave the car at the bottom and walk up, it's not far. Thank-you for leaving the cottage so very clean and tidy, much appreciated. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
