This quirky holiday base in Featherstone near Haltwhistle sleeps two people in one room.Peat Gate Shepherd's Hut is a hand-made timber hut in a wonderful rural setting in Featherstone near Haltwhistle. The hut offers studio accommodation for a romantic couple's break, with a king-size bed, kitchen area, dining area and sitting area with woodburner. There is a separate shower room. Outside is off road parking a short distance from the hut, and the hut itself is set in an enclosed field, a nature-lover's paradise! Peat Gate Shepherd's Hut is close to Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Forest, the Heritage Coast and superb walking and cycling options, making it a great base for a memorable break.

Amenities: Woodburning stove with electric convector heater. Warming oven in woodburner, 2-ring hob, fridge, WiFi available but intermittent due to rural area. Power and fuel for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car 20 yards away. Bike storage. Use of enclosed field surrounding the hut. Sorry, no infants, children, pets or smoking. Shop 3 miles, pub 2 miles. Note: There are three steep wooden steps up to the hut.

Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrians Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Town: Known as the 'Centre of Britain', the small market town of Haltwhistle is a great place from which to explore both Northumberland and Cumbria. One of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian's Wall is only a mile to the north with various museums, forts and milecastles to be seen. This truly is magnificent walking, riding and cycling country, with various bridleways and cycle routes passing rivers, forests, castles and of course, Hadrian's Wall.
