the chalet will be given to one family at a time, so even if you are only 2 people you will have it only to yourself.complete privacy.

This 1 acre hideaway is bounded on two sides by streams.the dry zone scrub that surrounds the house is not landscaped but we do plant native jungle trees that are a haven for birds.

It is called river island because it is very secluded and feels like an island due to the 2 waterways. yet it is in close proximity to the tissamaharama road [also called the colombo galle highway],10 minutes by tuk tuk

The wattle and daube architecture is characteristic of a village house but it is lockable.

The house consists of an open plan sleeping and seating area, 2 modern bathrooms and a large verandah for relaxing by the stream.steps built into the bank takes you down for a quick bath/swim before lunch. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, cooker, pans crockery and cutlery

Crisp white linen sheets and large mosquito nets make up your five mattresses on the sleeping platform. Towels are provided.

You could ask our manager ananda to go down to the market to buy fresh local produce and cook you up a down south curry and rice for an extra charge. there is a menu in the house. hambantota also has a large supermarket and restaurants.

Basic and beautiful. no a/c and no hot water.

And if you are truly blessed, on a moonlit night you may see an elephant crossing the stream for a wander in your garden.

i am so very very sorry about the disastrous trip to yala. i always use gayan as he is a ranger and very knowledgeable and responsible and so far his vehicles are good. this should never have happened and i have spoken to him. he is very keen on refunding you his fee. please tell me how i could do this. please also apologise to your mother, it must have been a terrible experience for her too. i am happy that you enjoyed our little chalet and thank you so much for a great review.

Why can't I call Nelun (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Nelun (the owner) a message.

If Nelun (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
