Chasty House Barn was purchased by its current owners in 2014 as a rural getaway to enjoy with their family, friends and cocker spaniels. Nestled in the countryside on the outskirts of Holsworthy the property is a spacious four bedroom barn conversion accommodating up to 7 guests. It occupies a tranquil, relaxing and tucked away location with only a handful of neighbours and is surrounded by a patchwork of fields with far-reaching views. Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing break in this dog-friendly retreat set in beautiful rolling Devon countryside.
Originally two separate cob and stone barns the property has been sympathetically renovated and link together by a new kitchen extension that is well equipped incorporating all the essentials and a few extras including a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and even a popcorn maker!
Leading on from the kitchen to the left the upper and larger of the two barns contains the spacious open plan living and dining room which is tastefully decorated with a blend of the modern and the rustic. Exposed beams, modern art, soft wall lamps and three deep comfy sofas all add to the comfort and style. Sit down in front of a 40” LCD flat screen TV with google Chromecast and Nintendo Wii. With a selection of Wii games, lots of board games and books this a great place to relax or play together with the family. And if that wasn’t enough there is a full size table football game and Hifi with DAB radio/CD and iPod connectivity.
Upstairs are two light and airy bedrooms and the family bathroom. The first is a lovely double with a king size bed and TV and the second is a roomy twin. Both bedrooms have matching furniture including a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets with lamps and a tub chair; and the beds are dressed with plump pillows and soft white satin stripe cotton bed linen . The family bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower and a towel rail full of 100% Turkish Cotton (600gsm) luxury bath towels.
The remaining bedrooms are located in the lower barn to the right of the kitchen. The first is a large spacious double with a TV and a day bed and just off this is the other smaller bedroom which has a single bed for younger party members. There is also a roomy en-suite with a monsoon shower. As with the first two bedrooms, beds are dressed with plump pillows and soft white satin stripe cotton bed linen and the en-suite is full of luxury cotton bath towels. This all makes the lower barn a perfect family suite.
Outside there are two good sized lawn areas for outdoor games and a separate south facing patio area surrounded with fragment shrubs and fruit trees, with a Mexican style BBQ during the warmer months you can sit on the picnic bench and watch the sun set. There is an additional bistro set on a smaller patio area just outside the kitchen if you fancy having your morning coffee al fresco. The garden is fully enclosed with stock fencing and surrounded by farmland and the location is such that you’re unlikely to hear anything more than the rustle of leaves and the morning bird song. There is gated off-road parking for at least three cars.
Just 15 minutes’ drive will bring you to the coastal town of Bude which has the nearest beaches. Widemouth Bay is also nearby and is a favourite for surfing. Summerleaze Beach in Bude is just a few miles along the Atlantic Highway and Crooklets beach just across the town, offering a fabulous 50s style cafe. All local beaches are attended by Lifeguard Patrols. Summerleaze has all manner of features on offer: sandy dunes, crab fishing in the river or Tommy’s Pit, great surf, a safe, enclosed sea pool, beach huts for hire, rock pools, fabulous walks along two miles of beach at low tide, amazing geology and lots more!
Bude town centre offers golf, shopping, bars and restaurants, as well as splendid walks along Bude Canal and Nature Reserve and along the coast path. A little further afield are Boscastle, Hartland Quay and Clovelly, where there are shops, pubs and fascinating local history.
The nearby Atlantic Coast has over seven miles of beaches with some great surf, sand, rock pools and dunes. Port Isaac, Padstow and Tintagel, Dartmoor, Bodmin moor and the Eden Project are all easily within a day trip. This lovely holiday home is in one of Devon’s most popular holiday destinations and is available throughout the year.
