Welcome to South Kona, Big Island of Hawaii! I offer a quiet, ocean-view studio on the garden level of a single-family home in a quiet, low-key, rural subdivision comprised of interesting custom homes. The studio is private and lockable and sleeps two guests max. Two minutes drive to our own secluded black-pebble beach with easy access to outstanding snorkeling, kayaking and swimming. Unlike beaches in town, it's very uncrowded here most days and you will probably have the whole beach to yourself. We have rainwater catchment here, so thus, water conservation is requested. My place is great for a single or couple who want a nicely located spot near the beach that's still in the West side tropical zone... but seek a setting well away from the retail, tourists, heat and bustle of Kailua town. This is not a fancy resort space, but it IS spacious, homey and comfortable. Also, pleasant private patio outside: large glass dining table, gas BBQ and patio chairs, (Due to constant shortages, gas availability not guaranteed.) Our subdivision is stair-stepped onto the steep dramatic slopes of Mauna Loa, creating a commanding, 180-degree panoramic ocean views. Sunsets are extraordinary experiences on this part of the island, especially at our location and elevation. You feel like you are on top of the world --yet still close to the beach. This is a setting quite off the beaten track, so if you are looking to walk to nightlife or Starbux, this location is NOT the place. If you want to see stars, hear birds and whales and the crashing surf, that's more like us. Please ask all questions about location before booking. No cable TV or A/C. (Ocean breezes at elevation 750 keep us naturally comfortable all day, every day.) The beach right below us is a protected cove. Snorkeling along the finger reefs here (in calm conditions) is EXCELLENT. Our beach is a TRUE best-kept secret. Explore abundant sealife, startling pinnacles and breathtaking coral gardens. Kayaking is premier and it's easy to launch (in calm conditions) from our paved beach parking lot. The beach is about two minutes away from me via a crazy steep road. You can walk it-- but driving is recommended. Free, reliable and fast Wi-Fi. Comfy King size bed (firm Alexander Nest Bed), Wake to a garden chorus as you sip a hot cup of coffee and feel the gentle onshore breezes. It's tranquil and peaceful out here—a great location to experience the real vibe of Authentic Kona Hawaii. LOCAL DRIVING DISTANCES: We are 15 minutes from Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park (Hawaii's best preserved cultural refuge and ancient temple complex) and next door's outstanding snorkeling. Eight minutes to Ho'okena Beach, plentiful with dolphins and offers kayak rentals. Twenty minutes from Kealakekua Bay--a pristine bay and protected marine reserve/underwater park great for swimming, dolphin sightings and whale-watching. Five minutes to the famed coffee belt of the Honaunau Valley. In short, South Kona offers great variety of must-do destinations all within minutes. We are one hour and 15 minutes to the world-famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Punalu'u Black Sand beach, with an abundance of sunbathing turtles, is about 45 minutes south as are turnoffs for the Green Sands beach and South Point. It's about 12 miles north to Captain Cook, with services such as gasoline, restaurants, grocery and banking. Hiring a car for mobility's and convenience sake is DEFINITELY recommended. No mosquito coils, candles or anything that burns allowed on property. Only your approved party allowed on property. Two week minimum at Christmas/NY weeks. I can take two adults or one adult & one kid over 10. Write with ANY and ALL questions about the place or its amenities, and I'd be glad to answer! Make sure your questions are answered fully before booking, as there are NO REFUNDS for any reason. Mahalo, & welcome!
