From the owner

Sea, sun, mountains, adventure, wine farms, night life, fine cuisine, Hout Bay has it all. Enjoy views across the bay from every room. Open plan home with flow to outdoor barbeque area. There is a solar heated swimming pool nestled in an enchanted milkwood garden. There is a braai area with seating and plenty of wood for barbeque-ing steak or a fresh fish

Pop down to the quaint harbor, with its restaurants and gift shops, markets and yachts. Buy fresh fish straight off the fishing boat. Hire a SUP (Stand up Paddle board) and paddle across the bay or for the more adventurous, kayak out to Seal Island (4km) and visit hundreds of seals. If paddling isn't for you, take a seal charter and go snorkelling with the seals. For terrestrials hike to the top of Chapmans Peak or Table Mountain or go zip-lining in the forest. Rest days must be spent at the famous Constantia Winelands (5km drive) for a wine-tasting and culinary experience, or stroll around the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (7km drive). Visit our very own vibrant township. A guide will show you around and tell you its story, then take you to a shebeen for home- made beer and local cuisine.

For a small fee Agneta the house keeper will be available to clean the house every day. In addition, if you have the food and the recipe, and tell her how, she can even prepare simple meals. Robert the gardener will keep the swimming pool sparkling and clean.

Scenic Hout Bay is a lively coastal town with a lovely swimming beach and a picturesque harbour where you can buy some of the best fish and chips in the world. The world famous Chapmans Peak is around the corner giving you access to hundreds of km of beautiful hikes. 20+ outstanding restaurants within 1 km of the house. Hout Bay harbour and market within 2 km drive and is rated one of the top 5 in Cape Town 8 Wine estates within 20 mins drive from the house. Beautiful beaches such as LLandudno, Clifton, Camps Bay and Noordhoek Village /beach all within 15 mins drive. The Waterfront and Cape Town city centre are within 20 mins drive There is an abundance of restaurants, shops and pubs in this vibrant little town, and although Hout Bay is something of a sleepy fishing village, the nightlife is hot and happening, especially during peak season. We start off with sundowners at Dunes which is on the main beach, followed by a the best sea food meal at Mariners Wharf. Chapmans Peak Hotel also has great sea food options and views. The Bay Harbour Market comprises of over 100 stalls, from delicious food to locally made items and is open on weekends. Visit the market on Fridays from 5pm to 9pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:30am to 4pm. The entire market is indoors so if the wind or rain threatens to keep you from stepping out, come find some treats and a great vibe here at the edge of the harbour, at the Bay Harbour Market. Kids of all ages will love the World of Birds, which has more than 3000 birds housed in its large aviaries. For great views of the bay enjoy a cruise to Duiker Island, also called Seal Island – a large seal colony – with Circe Launches, Drumbeat Charters or Nauticat Charters. (The Seal Island in Hout Bay, however, is not to be confused with the larger Seal Island in False Bay, where great white sharks are sometimes spotted.) Enjoy some of the freshest seafood at the Mariner’s Wharf. The area was South Africa’s very first maritime harbour-front emporium. Popular Mariner’s Wharf includes the 350-seater restaurant, the Wharfside Grill, fast-food seafood bistro, the Wharfette Bistro, a fish market, sushi bar, bakery, nautical gift and curio shops and a nautical antique shop. Although the water off Hout Bay beach is a little colder than Muizenberg or Simon’s Town, the beach is wide, flat and child-friendly, and the water is not too cold for swimming, especially on a hot summer’s day. If you’re a keen walker, the beaches around Hout Bay are wonderful for long strolls, and The Sentinel is a popular climb. Adventure lovers might also enjoy kayaking, mountain biking, fishing charters and jet-skiing – all available in the Hout Bay area.

There is an excellent MyCiti bus service a short 300m walk down the road. This bus service gives you access to the airport, the city and all the popular beaches. There is also the reliable well priced UBER taxi service. A fun way to see all major Cape Town attractions is the City Sightseeing Red Bus, an open roof double-decker hop on - hop off! Car hire is cheap. There is parking for 2 cars in the garage.
