From the owner

Lower level of hi ranch includes large LR/kitchen combo and separate BR with Queen sized bed, and private bathroom with full shower/tub. It is a separate apartment from upstairs of house where I live. Off street parking for 1 car and that is all Im allowed to comply with town short term rental rules.

There is also a pullout couch and love seat in LR. You will have key to house & separate, lower level apartment to come & go as you please. In season there is a beautiful yard with in ground pool, can arrange schedules for use. (Pool season is generally shortly after Memorial day to shortly after Labor day. Please check for exact dates if your visit is around then.)

Nice quiet residential street not far from Huntington village and even closer to town of Greenlawn, train to NYC etc. LR has 3 windows and gets good sunlight late afternoons. Since the house is on a hill, the BR and part of the kitchen are subgrade but both of those have small windows.

There is full tub/shower in updated bathroom. Plenty of closets, washer & dryer. Kitchen has fridge/freezer, double sink, stove top (no oven), plus microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and teapot. There are dishes, pots, pans etc in cabinets. Towels & linens are provided. There is an AC & A Smart TV in LR, but there is a TV nor an AC in the BR. There are 2 fans, a music system with radio, CD etc.

There are quite a few steps to get into the house without a hand railing; not a problem for most people but has presented a challenge for a few older guests.

The few negative comments Ive received have mainly been during prolonged wet/humid periods (often late Summer) when the apt. can have a slight damp smell to those sensitive to that, so please consider whether that may bother you. There is a dehumidifier and air filter you can choose to run, but most don't need them, as the AC and fans help greatly.

Also most are not at all concerned by the oil burner, which occasionally runs in a separate room near the bedroom, but was an issue for a more sensitive guest. In summary I would say if you are looking for "pristine", or "totally updated" this is probably not the place for you. Nor if you frequently return things you buy, or particularly if you send food back in a restaurant, except under extreme circumstances!...

I say this b/c well over 90% of guests love it here, some have returned 3 or 4 times. But now and then I get someone who is very fussy about minor things, typical of an older house, or things Ive already mentioned like steps or potential for humidity. It would save these people and me some aggravation if they stayed (and paid accordingly) at the Hilton, rather than my humble Airbnb Apt.! If you are also generally easy going and like a homey, somewhat retro style feel, then your positive energy will be added to the "house of tranquility here"!

I will be happy to assist you plan visit to nearby attractions, (For example within minutes Walt Whitman house & Sagamore Hill - Teddy Roosevelt's estate, gold coast mansions such as Vanderbilt, great kayaking along the Nisseaquogue River,etc) towns, beaches, restaurants, east end wineries etc.

If you forget something let me know, I may have it. You can borrow a bicycle, fishing polls, etc. Free amazing magic upon request too!

2 night minimum for most weekends unless last minute and it's still open. We do not rent for parties or movie shoots!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Robert (the owner) a message.

If Robert (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
