We call our farmhouse Lake of Dreams and if you stay here we think you will understand why! The farmhouse sleeps 9 and it has an attached restored former stables that sleeps four. The spacious beamed farmhouse combines modern convenience while retaining its traditional features. there are four large beamed bedrooms - two downstairs doubles and upstairs one twin and triple bedroom.The cosy sitting room has two settees, log burner, music centre, selection of books and games. It is a quiet place to relax or you may enjoy the large lounge withTV This has an exposed stone wall with window overlooking the lake, two settees and log burner. The large beamed kitchen/dining room is fully fitted, including dishwasher. There is also a downstairs utility with washing machine and bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs is a shower room. There is free wifi access.
The farmhouse has a covered terrace with comfortable seating. From here you can enjoy glorious views of Iznajar and the lake. The grape vine covered terrace is a cool and restful place for al fresco eating. The covered inner courtyard also provides another seating area.
The farmhouse has a separate private pool area. The large pool (8m x 4m) has panoramic views with stunning scenery. The spacious terrace has sun loungers, solar heated shower, table tennis, barbecue.

The Andalucia region
Inland Andalusia is the "real" Spain with welcoming locals and a relaxed lifestyle. Think of all the best Spain has to offer and you have Andalusia! Discover historic cities, whitewashed villages, fabulous scenery and food, flamenco, fiestas and a wonderful climate. The latter is ideal for an endless list of outdoor pursuits from bird watching to skiing.
You can visit the great cities of Granada (the Alhambra Palace is a must). Cordoba (Mesquite and cathedral and Seville. Don't forget Malaga with its historical centre and fabulous museums.
Iznajar
Iznajar is a beautiful whitewashed village overlooking the lake. At the top is the Moorish castle. The name comes from the Arabic "Hism" castle and "Ashar" happy. It is the centre of the local community and has shops, bars, banks and a local hospital.It has a new indoor sports centre if you want to keep up your gym routine! The lake is the largest in Andalusia. It is 32km long and 6 km wide. It has a small beach with a bar where you can hire sail boats,or kayaks.
Antequera is a charming town with an historical centre. it has good shopping including hypermarket. it is next to one of the most important dolmens centrist Europe. Nearby is El Torcal national park with fantastic limestone structures and walking trails.
Priego de Cordoba is a small town in the beautiful Sierra Subetica national park. It has beautiful baroque churches.
El Chorro gorge has a breathtaking walk through the gorge. There are lakes and waterspouts nearby. The pretty towns of Ronda and Alhama de Granada also have famous gorges and walks.
Outdoor activities
Golf is 30 minutes away in Antequera. This is a wonderful course designedly Jose Maria Canizares. It is a challenging 6000m par 72 course. There is also a course at Granada which welcomes non members on weekdays.
You can ski in the morning and return to sit by the pool in the evening! The Sierra Nevada resort is 90 minutes away. It has a longer than average season and it suitable for all abilities. walking and mountain biking are wonderful here. The area is a walkers paradise from walking through the olive groves to the GR7 Gran Recorrido nearby in the Sierra Subetica national park.
The area is good for birdwatching from flamingoes on Fuente de Piedra lake to griffon vultures. there are lots of other species to spot! If that isn't enough horse riding is available nearby. The stunning scenery is perfect for painting and photography.
Local festivals.
festivals run throughout the year and are an integral part of the local society. The highlight is Semana Santa - Easter. In May local villages around Iznajar converge together at the lakeside with decorated floats and horses. Also in May Cordoba has a festival where beautifully decorated patios are open to the public. In June the Feria sees local people party for three days. In the second half of September Iznajar honours its patron saint with a candlelit procession.
