From the owner

Set within the grounds of a private farm in the Maparasha Hills and 90 min from Amboseli National Park in Kajiado County. Kichaka offers a novel self-catering glamping experience in the African bush. Situated an easy 2-hour drive from Nairobi and one hour from the Tanzanian border, this rustic hillside retreat is a perfect weekend getaway.

The space

Intimate in nature, Kichaka offers families and friends exclusive use of the glamp site and its facilities on a self-catering basis, blending traditional safari style living with a touch of down to earth charm.

Kichaka can host up to 8 people with accommodation comprising of four spacious safari tents The tents are situated a short distance from the pool, and come furnished with comfortable Queen sized beds, bed linen, duvets, pillows, stylish rugs, side tables, storage chests and solar lighting. The safari tents have divan beds and en-suite open air hot showers and flush toilets. The safari tents are spacious enough to accommodate an extra single bed upon request.

There is a thatched banda over looking the pool, with a furnished lounge and dining area for guests to relax in. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, sink with hot and cold running water, cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery, glasses and solar fridge. There is a pizza oven and charcoal barbecue for outdoor cooking. Charcoal and gas is provided. The pool is decked out with sun-beds and loungers - the perfect spot for al-fresco meals. Next to the banda is a washroom with flush toilet and shower. There are plenty of fabulous sun downer spots in the hills directly above the camp and a campfire for guests to enjoy at night.

There is phone signal for most mobile operators, and guests may charge their phones at the office.

Guest access

You are free to stroll around the 100 acre farm where you are likely to cross paths with some of our resident wildlife; dik-dik, impala, gazelle, mongoose, vervet monkey, wildebeest, zebra and warthog. Hike in the surrounding hills and enjoy the spectacular views, (on a clear day you can see Kilimanjaro).

Chill by the pool which is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay, play a round of croquet, or lie in a hammock under the shade of an acacia and enjoy the abundance of bird life.

Take a picnic and drive to the Amboseli National Park which is about a two hour drive away. The return trip can be comfortably made in one day – in a four-wheel drive!

Other things to note

Guided walks, around the farm and in the surrounding hills can be arranged.

The farm engages in beekeeping. If you are interested we can show you round!

How do damage deposits work?

If Tricia (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
