UNIQUE PLACE
Our place is meant to be for guests and travelers who really want to relax and recharge themselves during their holidays and return home fully refreshed. It is meant to be a luxury holiday retreat. If you look for a unique place, with a touch of functional luxury, stylish design and a dash of Thai coziness & Oriental charms, in a less-touristic area of the pristine surrounding, our residence would be right for you!
HISTORY
Historically, our property was part of the legendary River Kwai Horse Camp, established by the late German polo trainer, who moved from Bangkok not long after the end of WWII to give birth to the horse riding camp, a first of its kind in Kanchanaburi, if not Thailand, almost 70 years ago. Today our residence is physically still part of this uniquely historical place that occupies approximately a woodland of 28 acres - a largest residential green space nearest to town.
THE PROPERTY
Secluded in a rural Thai village only 400 m. from a touristic Saiyok 323 highway, our place always surprises guests with its soothing serenity and astonishingly peaceful atmosphere. Our area is isolated from a busy tourist street near The River Kwai Bridge, though we are only 6 km. from town., and 2.5 km. on a back road to the bridge.
THE RESIDENCE: Timeless Elegance. Oriental Charms. Homey Atmosphere.
The two-storey building is surrounded by beautiful garden and nature, occupying over half of the whole property. This house-cum-luxury boutique hotel was constructed as a home office building eight years ago, and in 2014 it has been renovated to accommodate guests with special interest in a non-conventional place to stay. It was softly launched to welcome guests in May 2015.
THE DESIGN: Colonial architecture. Contemporary. Oriental Heritage.
The main building design is a perfect blend of the influences of Colonial architecture and a simple but stylish contemporary design. The interior design is directed by our personal passion towards a timeless charm of classic styled furniture and a cozy touch of the Orient and Thainess. As similarly important, we integrate the natural elements, i.e light, views of nature and cheerful energy, into the whole design.
WELCOME HOME: ORIENTATION
After you step in to our property, easily noticeable with its distinguished wall, you will walk through an enchanting hallway of the residential building that leads you to a reception area.
On the ground floor, there are 3 bedrooms; two are relatively large and one is a standard size. In the middle of the ground floor, there is a reception area where you will be greeted by our friendly and gracious staff. On the other wing, there is a kitchen, breakfast room and its terrace next to a garden. Together, it can accommodate up to 20 people at one time. Upon request, table set up can be arranged in a garden.
Upstairs, there are 5 bedrooms, separating in two wings, with a living space in the middle and a shared spacious balcony in the front, overlooking our enchanting Naga pond and swimming pool. One large bedroom, identified by its shaded yellow wall, has its own balcony and has a connecting door to a small bedroom.
In the garden, our iconic Naga occupies the centre of the whole landscape, in a beautifully designed pond, blanketed by water lilies all year round. By the pond under the rain tree, stands a Sala Naga, a pavilion with a daybed sofa, desks and seats - a popular place for relaxation!
Further back of the garden, located a welcoming salt water swimming pool, 5.5 m. x 10.5 m., with a depth range from 1.20 m. to 1.50 m. Nearby, there is a pool bar and its open terrace that can be another place for drinking or dinner.
The residential area of the property enjoys its privileged privacy by a garden surrounding it; making it like an inner area of the property. A car park is inside the property, but outside the inner area. Our private dirt road inside the property runs passing a car park, leading further into a residential area on the other half of the property at the back and further into the woodland of the River Kwai Family camp.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Our immediate neighbourhood is a woodland, farms and village settlements. In general, it looks rural, though some changes can be observed over the past few years. Limestone topography around is spectacular especially early morning or during sunset. The best place to enjoy a scenic view over the river, is from a local bridge on 323 highway, 5-10 minute walk from where we are. if you feel like waking up early and take a short morning walk to a pineapple plantation next door, the sky and the mountain view is terrific! It is truly a morning therapy!.
GETTING AROUND
If you have a car, it's perfect, but if you don't, getting around is not too difficult. Shopping malls and supermarkets are within 3-5 kms, local restaurants can be reached by driving in 5-10 minutes. Public bus and trucks run regularly on 323 route.
