Culture and History
• As with every place in Greece, its history goes far back, and its myths and traditions are still alive. Kavala retains its antiquity even more than many other Greek areas. Visitors coming to Kavala will get the authentic feel of Greek culture and history, which is still untouched by modernity, especially the northern part.
• The ancient city of Philippi dates to 360 BC and is one of the great historical tourist hot spots of the region. This city had been under the control of numerous rulers like King Phillip and Octavian. It was also the site for the famous Saint Paul's imprisonment.
