Thairn cottage at Burnbrae Holidays is ideally located in the heart of the Scottish Borders, quiet and peaceful yet only 3 miles from the historical town of Kelso with its majestic abbey, delicious restaurants, large cobbled square. Thairn Cottage has private, south-facing conservatory and patio overlooking, the cottage garden with views to Cheviot Hills. Log burning stove. Free super-fast Wi-Fi throughout your cottage.

Thairn Cottage is all on one level, light and airy with plenty of space, (ideal for 2, extra bed available, please ask,) and generously equipped for 1, 2 or 3. There is room in the bedroom for an extra bed or travel cot. Or the extra bed can be in the large living room.

Thairn Cottage has one bedroom with an extra-long king-size bed. There is central heating throughout & log burner in the living room. All of the rooms are on the same level, with level access from the large, private car park. Cars can approach close to the main entrance of Thairn cottage for loading.

Relax in your private south-facing conservatory, or on a recliner on the patio, watching the wildlife, admire the garden, walk-in our fields and along the riverside, or snuggle up in front of your cosy log-burning stove.

Thairn Cottage has a light & airy living room with plenty of space for comfortable seating and also dining. The separate kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, hob, microwave oven and conventional oven and grill. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. On-site there is a lockable cycle shed that can also store your golfing or fishing equipment and a separate laundry with a washing machine and tumble drier for the use of guests. Each cottage has a heated drying cupboard. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our 3 cottages.

Thairn Cottage is located within 50 minutes drive of Edinburgh, from the east coast beaches with superb coastal scenery, Border towns, Cheviot and Ettrick hills. Ideal for visiting the many abbeys, gardens and stately homes which are found nearby (Floors Castle and Mellerstain House are just a few minutes away). Thairn Cottage is only 3 miles from Kelso with its splendid square, majestic abbey ruins, racecourse, individual shops, and a wide selection of places to eat.

The quiet country roads are a joy for motorists and cyclists alike. More adventurous mountain bikers can test their nerves on the Glentress trails. For the less daring, the Borders offers a wide variety of golf courses, fishing, horse-riding, (riding stables next door), walking - from strenuous hikes up the Cheviot to peaceful strolls amongst the splendid Borders scenery - or admiring the textiles, pottery, woodwork and paintings on show in the numerous studios and galleries to be found within the area.....and you can return to relax in the peace of Burnbrae.

Why can't I call Yvette (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

If you have any questions before booking, you can send the property owner/manager a message via the contact form on their listing. Once you’ve booked, you can discuss the rental and make arrangements for your trip by logging into Manage my booking.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Yvette (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Yvette (the owner) a message.

If Yvette (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
