Scar Bridge Cottage is a stylish restored and extended 200 year old cottage on private 3 acres. It is a convenient pretty base for Wexford Opera Festival and the area benefits from many sandy beaches , scenic Hook Head and plentiful award winning restaurants in and around the thatched fishing village Kilmore Quay together with the cosmopolitan town of Wexford. The property boasts 4 poster bed , another double bedroom and a third bedroom with 2 single beds ,open fire and landscaped gardens with terraces , orchard and lawned areas overlooking its own river. As a bonus the pretty stone stable is used as a summer games chill out room with stone courtyard. A lovely little wooden summer house is a sheltered corner from which to view the little fish jump in the river or play in the summer evenings on the top lawn !
Boules provided and great on the top lawn or gravel. The gardens wrap around the house and prompt games of hide and seek. With a corner for each hour ..the table and chairs on the top lawn are gorgeous for breakfast and the lower terrace beside the Bar BQ area offers shade in the warm afternoons. Move towards the house in the evenings and enjoy the outdoors with the fire pit toasting marshmallows or cooking on the coal BBQ
20 minutes Rosslare car ferry port , 15 minutes Wexford town , 2 hours drive from Dublin airport, 45 minutes Waterford airport. ideal as peaceful retreat , family beach holiday base , walking , fishing,golfing and bird watching, island cruises , harbour thrills , fishing charters , historic interest , excellent organic local produce providers , farmers market and fresh fish daily at the Quay.. Pony riding school for children just 400 metres away from the cottage.
There is an oil fired AGA at this property which ,may be turned off in the summer months as there is an electric oven grill hob alternative .The use of the AGA must be requested at time of booking and a fee will apply dependent on current oil prices
Wifi joined national broadband scheme in Sept 2023 bringing high speed fibre c 500mb speed to the cottage
This property is maintained to a high standard with weekly gardener/housekeeper and regular servicing of all equipment. The house is closed for 10 days each spring or autumn to be repainted weather dependent and to facilitate maintenance .please note guests are not provided with keys to French doors in tv room as previous guests have often left doors open and unlocked when away from the cottage .
For bookings of 2 weeks or more an optional mid term housekeeping service is offered at a charge of euro 100 to cover change bedlinen/towels and general cleaning of the property .This must be prebooked

Pets are welcome but strictly not allowed upstairs. please ensure that pets are not allowed on furniture . The cottage sits on private 3 acres on a quiet country lane. Accessed over a stone bridge the cottage grounds are enhanced by the pretty river scar which runs through the grounds. The small river has been fenced off with gated access to a river walkway and steps to a wooden platform at the waters edge ideal for casual fishing , or relaxing . Size of river totally dependent on rainfall levels, dry summer months will leave it playfully knee deep! A wooden summer house sits on the river bank. Garden furniture/ chairs , seating 8 , is provided. BBQ and firepit The property provides ample secure parking for 4 cars. Ideal as a family holiday base or peaceful retreat.The orchard in the upper lawn has cooking and eating apples and the herb garden is also available for guests' use. deck chairs encourage peaceful afternoons in the dappled shade of the plentiful mature trees!
