Description

This is our 2nd home and we retreat from our busy lives in Glasgow to it as often as we can. It's very peaceful and the fact it's low-tech means we have quality family time - board games, 'film nights'. We've decided to rent it out a bit to cover the council tax and pay for a hot tub (watch this space!). If desperate, we use our phones as hotspots for internet access on laptops (otherwise phone reception, depending on your network, is fine). Ideal in the summer for cycling (e.g. to Boat of Garten RSPB centre, from Aviemore), walking (Loch an Eilean is a good one). Great in the winter for when we go skiing/boarding. We've made some great memories in this house with friends and family. Our favourite pub in Scotland is 5 minutes walk away - The Suie Bar where you will receive a warm welcome. Play pool, darts, have a blether beside the roaring fire. Live music sometimes. The Loch Insh outdoor centre is 5 minutes away and has outdoor sports (sailing, windsurfing) and the Boat House

The Loch Insh outdoor centre is 5 minutes away and has outdoor sports (sailing, windsurfing) and the Boat House restaurant is great. The shop there sells milk and bread. More provisions are 10 minutes drive away in Kingussie or a bit further in Aviemore. We adore the Inshriach Potting Shed cake shop. Rothiemurchus is 15 minutes drive and has many activities on offer, with a lovely farm shop. Not forgetting the Kincraig Highland Safari park which is a great day out (use your Tesco club card vouchers a fair bit in advance to save on the entry fee!). Please leave as you find it (clean and tidy).

Location description from owner

The Aviemore and the Cairngorms region

Fantastic spot for exploring the Cairngorms. Ideal for outdoorsy families who want to bike, walk or ski/board - plenty to do in the summer and winter months. But also great for folk just wanting peace and relaxation and a wander to Loch Insh to watch the Ospreys. Best wee pub (the Suie Bar) around the corner. Lovely restaurants (Kingussie "The Bistro", Loch Insh "Boathouse", Aviemore "Bridge Inn"). 30-40 minutes drive to Inverness for the excellent Eden Court Theatre venue (Cinema and Theatre).

Kincraig

Kincraig is a little gem of a village. 10 minutes drive to Kingussie for main provisions. Fantastic butcher in Kingussie. Milk and Bread at Loch Insh shop and some more provisions in the caravan park at Dalraddy. One of the best tea-rooms in Scotland at the Potting Shed, Inshriach; fabulous cakes.
