Covid-19 update for guests
3 July 2020
For the safety of our cleaners and guests, we currently aim to allow a buffer period of 72 hours between guests, as the science tells us that the survival of viral particles beyond this time is minimal. Most short-stay hotels are not doing this as it is not economical for them to do so.
In addition, in accordance with Government and Holiday Industry advice, the apartment will be thoroughly cleaned by a professional cleaning company, with particular regard to the possibility of contaminated surfaces like door handles.
Also as per the advice, we have reduced the number of frequently handled items to a minimum. This has meant the removal of books and brochures. It also means unfortunately that we can no longer supply tea, coffee, sugar, condiments etc. No great problem as there are shops in town 5 minutes walk away.
• Please note that only the people listed in the original booking are allowed to enter the property.
• Please ensure that you are familiar with, and adhering to, all restrictions and advice specifically set by the SCOTTISH Government, which may differ in certain respects from that for England. At the time of writing (3 July 2020), social distancing remains at 2 metres and the wearing of masks or some form of face covering is mandatory on public transport and will become so in shops in Scotland on 10 July 2020.
• If arriving from outside the UK please ensure before beginning your journey that a period of quarantine is not required when you arrive at your accommodation in Scotland. Our flat is nice but you may not want to remain in it for the whole of your holiday!
ON LEAVING
• We ask all guests on leaving to remove their bedding and place it in one of the big black plastic bags to be found under the sink in the kitchen; and to place towels in a separate bag, and leave them in the hall.
• Please remove all items of food, even if not opened.
• Please place waste items in the appropriate coloured bin. NEVER place loose items in the bin. They must be in one of the large plastic bags which has been securely sealed first.
• Please DO NOT place the bins on the front street as WE, NOT THE COUNCIL are responsible for emptying them.
Thank you for your help.
Now for some details about the apartment.
Kirk View Apartment in Kirkcaldy is a refurbished upper flat in a two-story building in Alexandra Street, a peaceful Victorian area in the coastal town of Kirkcaldy just 5 minutes walk to the town centre.
Ideal for family holidays, the centrally heated apartment being cosy at all times of year, is also ideal for winter breaks.
The kitchen and master bedroom look out across gardens to the impressive 300ft spire of St Brycedale Kirk.
The kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, or just eat in town. With its numerous cafes and restaurants and wealth of shops, Kirkcaldy's pedestrianised town centre is the ideal place to refuel after a day exploring. And what a lot there is to explore - a string of picturesque fishing villages to east and west along Fife's 150 km coastline, historic mansions, and castles, island boat trips, hills to climb.
Being a pleasant 10 minutes walk to the train station, the Apartment is well located for trips by local train (4 or 5 per hour) along the scenic coastal route across the Forth Rail Bridge to the vibrant (though exhausting) cosmopolitan city of Edinburgh. Get the train to Dundee to see Kengo Kuma's iconic new V and A museum opposite the station. Or have a quiet day in town visiting Kirkcaldy's Museum and Art Gallery, Ravencraig Catle and Park, Beveridge Park, or shopping. The apartment has a sunny south facing lawn and patio where you can relax with a drink on a warm summer's evening.
