We at Mandira’s Home Stay are just a stone throw from this iconic temple of Kalighat which is a must visit for all who come to The City of Joy. It is here at this temple Goddess Kali resides in a grand glory.

While staying at the home stay you can enjoy the comfort of a traditional Bengali Home in a heart of the city yet nestled in a quiet comfortable neighbourhood.

It is about 300 metres from Jatin Das Park Metro the Ethnic Bengali home stay is located at Hazra Road in Kolkata.

The location is in the heart of a well connected residential south Kolkata. The metro station Jatin Das Park is a walk of 3 to 4 minutes. Hazra More is a junction (about 4 minutes of walk) that everyone knows. From here a very large number of busses and cabs connect all over Kolkata. If you wish to travel to Esplanade and further to BBD Bag or beyond, the choice is between a bus, a metro, or a pre-booked cabs.

If you wish to use the metro connectivity (it links extreme north to south Kolkata), let us know, we can help you locate your stations of destination.

Birla Planetarium is 19 minute walk from the accommodation and 15 minute walk to Kalighat temple – the origin of the city. Victoria Memorial is 2.2 km from the home stay while new market is 3.9 km away. Home stay is located 3.7 km away from Indian Museum and within 2 km away from the other cultural hub. Main shopping Malls - Lake Mall (800 meters away), Forum is 1.3km away, South City Mall is 2.7 Km while Quest Mall also 2.4 km away. A wide variety of food options and places of interest are available through a large network of travel option, including those who wish to walk down Kolkata’s memory lanes.

The nearest airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, 17 km from the accommodation. Railway station is Howrah12km from the home stay.

There are two well appointed rooms’ one very large double room and a small comfortable single room, with round the clock security with amenities for solo travellers.

All units comprise a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette with various cooking facilities including microwave, toaster, induction oven, electric kettle and blender. All rooms boast a flat screen TV with cable channels and a private bathroom

Flat screen TV with cable channels and air-conditioning are provided in each unit. We are offering free Wi-Fi, throughout the property.

Breakfast is typical Bengali style and comes with a local desert and has a choice of eggs preparations. Tea or coffee is as per choice!

Amidst a touch of nature as well as necessary comforts, the two classy rooms offer a touch of heritage and ethnicity at affordable rates.

A choice of Bengali breakfast which comes along free with the room makes the stay very profitable indeed. Home cooked ethnic Bengali lunch and dinner can also be served on advance notice (minimum 12 hours).

We can serve you lunch, dinner or an evening munch if you wish. They carry a nominal charge for home cooked food.

Please note: we prefer you to have your complimentary breakfast and all meals at the dining table only!

There is a medicine chest if you need. If necessary we can arrange a doctor on call.

Ava Rani - Double Room

This master bed room has a massive antique King sized bed which is more than 150 years old and a family heirloom.

Other furniture include a sofa that is ornate and classic, wooden chairs that are carved with passion, a writing desk, a centre table that has a map of the city to follow and a steel locker to put clothes and if required, the travellers’ valuable.

It is an air-conditioned room with attached large spacious bath with toiletries and towels. Electric kettle also provided in the room.

Shyam Sundar – Single Room

It is a cosy comfortable air conditioned room with a largish single bed. Also included is a writing desk with locker to put your valuables and chair, a TV and a electric kettle. A morning English news paper is available on request. The bath is attached and has toiletries and hot and cold water.
