Komarna is a small beach village in the south of Dalmatia, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Komarna has a grocery shop and a souvenir shop, but no post office or ambulance (the nearest ambulance post and postal office are in Klek, 3 minute drive, and also in Opuzen and Metkovic, 10 and 20 minutes drives respectively). It is 1 hour drive from cities like Duborvnik and Mostar, as well as the peninsula of Peljesac with the famous wine roads and a windsurfers' paradise that is Viganj. The Neretva delta, with mandarin fruit fields and a sand beach with a kitesurfing center, is only 10 minutes away. Slivno, on the hills above Komarna, offers many walking and mountain-biking possibilities. You can find an old fortress, remnant from the Ottoman times, as well as the Ancient Roman soldiers' graves, there, as well as old churches and traditional olive groves. The Ancient Roman towns of Ston and Vid are also nearby. Ston features a beautiful old city wall, and the oldest salt factory in Europe, where salt is still gathered the traditional way.
The town of Ploce, only 15 minutes away, offers a ferry connection to the islands and cities in the South Dalmatia.
