Firt some general facts of the landscape: Sumadija is derived from Forest
(Suma = forest). The area used to be and still is quitly wooded. There are still a great many areas with fields, thickets and a striking number of Acacia trees. Predominantly spruce, beech, oak forests. The landscape ranges from gentle hills to rocky canyons and often offer splendid views into the distance. The landscape is very lush and makes a very pristine impression. There are lakes, rivers, streams and increased brooklets. Especially in nomadic trail, the landscape is very hilly with partial plateaus, fenced, wooded and unwooded. On one day, the scenes change from mediocre to extremely.
A few words about our village KAMENICA. Kamenica comes from Kamen = stone, and in fact it has a lot of stones here, esp. in the ground. There are also fields, meadows, forests and a river of the same name, which operates an old, recently renovated wathermill. The quiet, easily accessible village lies at the foot of the mountain Rudnik at about 400m above sea level and counts only around 320 inhabitants. In Kamenica there are excavations of two very old churches and Duke Milutin Postupovic father of Radic Postupovic, the donor of the close-lying monastery Vracevsnica came from Kamenica. Formerly one of the most famous brandy "Zuta Osa" (yellow wasp) was produced in Kamenica.
