Casa de Karma was constructed in 2007.
The main objectives were to build a home that maximized the incredible Ocean view directly out front.
While limiting the angles of which you could see into the house.
The home is located on a rock cliff with the constant sound of the Ocean and indigenous wildlife echoing through the circular cylinders.
Being the last home in the row of five beach front homes make it extremely private and serene.
The home is also located on the edge of the owners 30 acres of private reserve property.
With many walking paths paved and packed dirt you can roam for hours without even leaving the property.
The local people you encounter on the beach and on the road are friendly, courteous and always willing to talk story, as El Salvador is a rightfully proud nation.
Buenas is a typical greeting that will usually get you the same in return.
I cannot say enough good things about the resourceful local people, my friends, family/care takers and neighbors here in El Salvador.
Without all of whom I would not be privileged enough to visit their hospitable, beautiful country.
The house itself was built with all local materials, from the foundation using the same rock as the volcanoes to the stone floors and lime stone walls.
We set out to build a home that also was not all bling bling, more of a mini round castle feel, was the design intent.
There were actually guys that spent weeks chipping away at columns to make them look aged.
Special molds were hand built to form Mayan patterns with-in the home to respect the roots of the country and its people.
The Kitchen which was originally going to be a third bedroom, it was changed last minute to my favorite room.
The Kitchen is the place in most homes where people enjoy hanging out.
Therefor we destructed all the walls except the back supporting wall and opened the Kitchen up completely to the elements of nature.
There is a surrounding Lava Top Bar with a central (also round) cooking station.
Along the sides are sinks, serving bars as well as an in development stone oven.
The Kitchen chairs were custom built with extra height to optimize the incredible 360 degree view of the Ocean and surrounding mountains.
You can enjoy your meals and beverages to the sound of the Ocean and indigenous wildlife.
The home was designed with multiple levels and individual cylinders to enhance the features listed below.
Privacy, sound levels, acoustics, ceiling heights, lighting, air flow and all of the little things that can make a difference in a good vacation, restful sleep, peacefulness etc. were taken into consideration, thought out and applied into this unique karmic structure.
All The furnishings and art with-in and on the Terrace were custom built and designed by the locals who knew, the homes unique structure, myself and it;s intended vibe. Which makes the home seem all that much more comfortable.
I find myself not leaving the property for weeks at a time, due to fact that the best fisherman are my care takers and neighbors.
The local ladies bake tortilla's and bread and our the locals bring fresh picked vegetables and fresh cheese to the front door daily.
Most else can be found at the small market (5 minute walk) at the end of our street (dirt road) there are also great restaurants a short distance away.
What is so cool is that whatever you would like to experience during your stay is with-in a two hour drive of your private paradise.
Horseback rides can be arranged with a same day with a morning notice.
The Fishing and Sailboat tours require a 48 hour notice to arrange and are based around the Ocean's conditions.
We have a professional driver with a car, pick-up and microbus who is friendly, safe, reliable knowledgeable, he has been driving for our family for 20 years.
Special trips such as the Mayan Ruins, Capitol, Volcano, Zip Line, Shopping or Night Life Tours etc. require a 24 hour notice.
IF YOU HAVE A LARGER GROUP, WE HAVE A GUEST HOUSE THAT SLEEPS 4 PLUS PEOPLE, AS WELL AS ANOTHER HOUSE.
Please let us know if you have specific questions.
