Lapwing House is a large restored stone house with 4 bedrooms and is set in the quiet village of Lairoux, only a 15 minute drive to the lovely sandy beaches of the Vendée, where you will find plenty to do - either relaxing in the sun, building sand castles or surfing in the waves.
This is a great location for a family get together - the house is large enough for a 3 generation family or 2 families holidaying together, but still to have their own space. There are lots of tourist attractions to keep you all occupied - such as the Aquarium at La Rochelle, the Indian Adventure Park or the fantastic Puy du Fou Theme Park.
In the large garden there is a 5.5m x 4.5m above ground pool. If you just want to relax on a sun lounger - there are sheltered areas to sit and read or sunny areas to top up your tan. A patio table, chairs and parasol is available for al fresco dining. The garden is 1500m² and has views across the wetland valley below - great for watching the local wildlife and birds. The garden is also full of friut trees - with figs, apples, peaches, walnuts, plums and grapes all ripening throughout the summer and ready to be picked by you.
Wi-Fi Internet connection is available in the house.
You enter the house via the large living room, which has a TV with UK free-to-air TV channels and DVD player. There is a large separate dining area that opens towards the fitted kitchen and to the rear of the house, and overlooking the garden, is a large conservatory - used as a games room with table tennis, air hockey, toys, books and board games for all ages.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor (one twin bedroom and a double on a mezzainine floor). These are next to the family bathroom and separate toilet. A further 2 bedrooms are on the first floor (One double bedroom - with extra single bed - leading through to a second twin bedroom) A shower and second toilet are on this floor.
A cot, highchair and stairgate are provided for younger children.

Lapwing House has been lovingly restored over the years by it's owners and is now laid out as a comfortable holiday home for up to 8 or 9 guests in 4 bedrooms. There is a large living room with TV and DVD player, with UK & French free-to-air satellite channels, with a large wood burner for the cooler months.
Steps lead up to the open plan dining room and kitchen area, where you will find a large dining table & chairs and doors with views across the village square and into the large back garden. The kitchen is equipped with a gas/electric hob, oven, microwave and enough crockery and cutlery for up to 8 guests.
The dishwasher is located in the conservatory behind the main kitchen and the washing machine is in the hallway at the back of the house .
Stairs from the living room lead up to two of the bedrooms, one has a double bed, plus a single bed and travel cot, and this leads into the other bedroom which has two single beds. There is also a shower room on the first floor with shower cubicle, WC and hand basin. A stairgate has been fitted for the security of your children.
There are two further bedrooms on the ground floor - a twin bedroom and double bedroom on a mezzanine level. The family bathroom with corner bath and hand basin is close to these two bedrooms, and there is a separate WC in the hallway nearby. The hallway also has plenty of storage space for luggage and a doorway into the conservatory/gamesroom where you will find a further table and chairs, and games area, with table tennis, air hockey, board games and Holiday reading. There are sliding patio doors to the patio and garden from this room.

The house is set back from the road in the central square of the village, with a small bar/restaurant only a stone's throw away. There is an open front garden and a gated back garden with great views down across the local Marais Communal (Wetlands).
An above ground pool (4.5m x 5.5m) was added to the garden in 2012 and is open from the end of May until the end of September.
There is a patio area, with dining table and chairs, next to the kitchen and then a flat lawned area for sunbathing on one of the sun loungers provided. The lawned area then slopes gently down to the bottom of the garden and there are many fruit trees planted - so you can enjoy picking your own plums, peaches, apples, pears and grapes straight from the vine!
There is a gravelled area with lockable gates where up to three cars can be parked off-road.
