Adk Star Ridge Cottage is simply a "Peace" of Heaven. Located on 30 private & serene acres, it is adjacent to thousands of acres of pristine timberland. Neighbors are few and far between. In fact you have only ONE full time resident neighbor within 3/4 mile! They are a retired couple whose home is not in sight of the Cottage. You can expect peace & quiet with the sounds & smells of nature filling your senses.

You may choose to simply lounge on the 750 sq.' deck with a drink at hand and the BBQ grilling away or hike a trail directly from the side door to explore the forests beyond. The cottage has games, puzzles, fiber optic wireless internet & satellite TV for those who prefer to stay indoors, but may still avail the views through many windows & doors. The in-floor radiant heat feels great to your bare feet & the inviting, glowing heat of the wood stove will have you soon napping!

Hop in the car or on your bikes and travel a few miles to the Jay 'rapids' where you can soak, slide & cool off in the AuSable River. Visit the Jay Green, home to JEMS theatre and outdoor concerts and Summer festivals. Pop in to local artisans shops such as the Jay Studio (on the Green) & Youngs Gallery (just up Rt. 86) or grab an ice cream at Devins in downtown Jay or Stewarts in AuSable Forks.

Whiteface Mountain ski area is approximately 10-15 minutes from the cottage with all the other Olympic venues just around the corner near Lake Placid, home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.

Stop off at the Ausable Chasm on your way toward Lake Champlain to view, hike or get wet in an awesome example of the raw force of nature. Catch a ferry to Burlington, Vt. for a cool day trip visiting Ben & Jerry ice cream factory, Vermont Teddy bear or about a dozen other cool destinations sure to put smiles on everyone in your family.

Bring your passport or NY enhanced drivers license to pop over the border and visit Montreal, only 1.5-2 hours from the cottage!

Thanks for the honest and detailed review. We work hard to make the Cottage, Adirondack Star Ridge the BEST it can be and appreciate all comments! Yes, certain times of the year in the Adirondacks and certainly in the evenings, the insects can be numerous. We have multiple containers of both deet-free and deet included repellents onsite for the guests. There is also a screen room large enough to accommodate the dining table of 4 set up there on the wrap-around deck. Also simple solutions will reduce annoying insects such as: keeping cologne and perfume to minimum, wear a hat with brim and loose clothing. More suggestions always appreciated so that our guests and others' can be fully prepared to enjoy their stay to the max! Cheers, Mike & Mini

Amazing views and accommodation

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Michael Edwards (the owner) a message.

If Michael Edwards (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
