From the owner

The house is a beautifully restored 3 storey village stone house which sleeps up to 4 adults and 3 children and a cot is also available. It has two double bedrooms, and a third bedroom designed for children has a bunk bed, and a separate single bed.

Ground Floor

The ground floor comprises an open-plan kitchen and dining area with a large dining table. The kitchen is fully fitted and has a discrete separate fridge and freezer cupboard and a pantry. There is an electric fan forced oven and a 4 burner electric hot plate.

The ground floor also features a large fireplace and small sitting area and a shower room with toilet and hidden washing machine and ironing board.

First Floor

The first floor incorporates a sitting room with a large flat screen television (which can be concealed), a cast iron stove and 3 elegant couches.

There is also a bedroom on this floor designed for children which has a bunk bed, and a separate single bed.

Second Floor

The second floor has two double bedrooms both with wardrobes. One of the bedroom's has a chest of drawers and the other has a dressing table.

Also on the second floor is a large bathroom with large shower and toilet.

FACILITIES

The house is equipped with a land line phone (with free landline calls to the U.S, U.K, Australia and most major countries) and access to wireless internet. You are free to use the wireless on an unlimited basis if you have a laptop or mobile. If you're in need of a computer the library has computers that can be hired for half an hour. The house is next door to the library. Alternatively the tourist office offers a similar service.

The television has a range of channels available in French, English, German and Spanish.

You are welcome to use kids toys, 3 kids scooters, and 1 elite mountain bike with helmet..

VILLAGE

Lauzerte is listed as "one of the most beautiful villages of France"*. Villages are selected for the quality of their heritage, of their architecture and their environment.

Lauzerte is an historic bastide (fortified village) and as such is perched on top of a large hill with spectacular views of the valley below. Many of the buildings and houses in this medieval village have been around since the 13th c. Lauzerte is divided into 2 sections, the haut (high) village and bas (lower) village, with the house positioned in the gateway between the two. Lauzerte dominates the surrounding valleys and affords magnificent panoramic views.

Weekly events in Lauzerte include a mid week fresh produce/butcher market in the bas village, and a much larger market on Saturday in the town square in the haut village for fresh produce, delicatessen, take-away food, conserves, wine and speciality breads. The house is a 30 second walk to the square.

In Summer (July - August) a Gourmand market is held every Thursday night, with local food and wine produce available to sample while sitting with the locals listening to traditional music in the warm night air.

Annual events include the festival of flowers (April), Potters' market (July), and 'Les Nuits de Lauzerte' (August), where for a weekend the entire town becomes a canvas for various art installation/projection exhibitions.

The cafe in the town square doubles as a music venue at night hosting local music acts throughout the year.

While it is very much a French town, there are also a number of friendly English speakers residing in the town, so you won't feel too isolated if your French is a little rusty.

REGION

This region is known as the Quercy Blanc and has many other small and beautiful villages close by. Set in beautiful rolling countryside of gentle hills and valleys, the area is made up of green fields, vineyards, farmland and historic hill top bastide towns.

The south-west of France is renowned for its warm, sunny climate and good food - local markets provide wonderful fresh vegetables,fruits and salads, duck, foie gras and truffles (in season) and the regional 'black wine' of Cahors, a Malbec blend.

Sightseeing opportunities include castles, lakes, medieval towns and villages.

Local activities include walking, cycling, swimming, tennis, fishing and horse riding. The adventurous may be interested in parachuting at the local parachuting school.

Local swimming lakes include the plan d'eau at Montcuq (10kms) and base de loisirs at Montaigu De Quercy (15km). Both have access to a large swimming lake and are a great place to take a picnic basket and enjoy a drop of the local wine on a warm night.

Immediately surrounding the village are numerous walking/cycling tracks.

NOTES:

There is a low ceiling on the first floor in the sitting room and the children's bedroom. Young children would need to be careful around the stairs.

Parking is available in the streets around the house.

A cleaning charge of 100 euros in cash is payable on departure.

How do damage deposits work?
