WHAT YOU WILL FIND
Il Portichetto is a traditional country house in the tiny fisher's hamlet of Solcio, furbished with antiques and paintings. The apartment is 100mq, on two floors, connected by a spiral staircase. Is ideal for families and children. On the first floor there is a FULLY EQUIPPED kitchen with dinner table, a huge living room with tables, fireplace, easy chair, sofa bed and a sunny terrace with stunning Lake Maggiore view. On the first floor: TWO MASTER BEDROOMS WITH DOUBLE BED, one with COT. The cot is suitable for children aged 0 to 4 years old. The beds are antique and queen size; one TUB bathroom and a SHOWER bathroom, a READING with desk.
There is a railroad line passing near the house so you will hear a slight noise when the train pass through. Anyway is not an annoying noise and usually after one or two days everyone gets accustomed to it.
A selection of English language and The BIBLIOTECA SOLCINA, a book collection devoted to LOCAL HISTORY are at guests disposal. Plenty of TOYS and children's book are available for guests in the children's room. ARTIST'S MATERIAL is at guest's disposal in the living room. Daily cleanings and baby sitter are available upon request.
Il Portichetto will be rented furnished with BEDLINENS, KITCHEN TABLECLOTHS, BATH TOWELS at no extra cost, so our guests could travel lightly. ELECTRICITY, GAS and WATER are at NO EXTRA COST. Beach towels will NOT be provided. As a WELCOME PACK you will find basic food for your first day in Solcio, as cookies, coffee and tea, milk, pasta, tomato sauce, sugar, salt, oil&vinegar. Guests are kindly requested not to leave their used dishes in the kitchen, but to put them in the dishwasher and turn it on. The fridge must be left empty and garbage must be put outside the house.
The house is suitable for children of all ages, but not for people with restricted mobility as there is a spiral staircase. No pets allowed. The house is no-smoking. Parking is available in front of the building.
Guests will have access to all the house. Internet connection is Wi-Fi.
A person will be available via phone for any needs or emergency and within the house in half an hour.

Il Portichetto is located between Arona and Stresa on Lake Maggiore. It is one hour drive form Milano and Malpensa International Airport and also reachable by train, bus or bicycle. Car is not necessary.
Minimum stay is 5 days. If you are interested in renting Il Portichetto for less than 5 days daily price is 115€. For multi weekly rentals cleaning of the house will be done mandatory once a week day and will cost €60 each week. Final cleaning cost: 60€. Heating in winter form Oct. 15th to Aprile 15th is included in the winter fee.
SOLCIO AS IT WAS
Founder of the blog Archivio Iconografico del Verbano Cusio Ossola, the owners of the property, Paola Vozza and Marco Casali, are journalist and photo editor. Their blog is dedicated to the iconographic memory of the area.Luckily it hasn't change so much! Guided tour or organized trips in the area are available upon request.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE
Located on the south side of Swiss Alps, Lake Maggiore benefits a sheltered position against the cold winds of northern Europe. It was inhabited since Romans time and reached its fame in Belle Époque, when it was choosen by wealthy families and international travellers as their favourite destination. The clear water welcome sailors, swimmers and canoeist. Hike and strolls, mountain biking, watersports activities, golf, riding and sailing schools are among the offers available for tourists. Autumn will come with its superb foliage; in springtime all the area is in full bloom with camelias and azaleas: the best time to visit the baroque gardens of Isola Bella and the botanical collection of Villa Taranto. Beauty treatment and spa and are available in thermal Premia. Winters are bright and sometime snowy, but rarely frozen. Skiing and snowshoeing lovers enjoy the panoramic view of Alps from of Mottarone mountain or the steep downhill slopes of Macugnaga at the feet of Monte Rosa summit.
Solcio is the perfect point of departure to discover the area. Activities within a walking distance from the village include: public beach with natural trees shade and picnic area, lakeside relaxation, olympic size swimming pool and tennis lawn, canoeing and fishing. There are two bars, three restaurants, a pizzeria, a supermarket, a fisher's shop with a delicious fish and chips saturday treat, a real estate agent, a beauty salon and hairdresser. No car is necessary, as there is a reliable bus, but is recommended if you wanna travel with comfort and quickly.
