The Writer's Retreat cabin is located on 250 acres of rolling farmland only 4 miles from downtown Lexington and it will delight you! It is larger than it looks, though the feeling you experience is that of a comfortable nook or nest. This is the place to 'recluse' from the fast pace of your life. With simplicity and charm - everything you need is provided. A very workable eat-in kitchen, bathroom with antique claw foot tub, Q bedroom, living room with leather sofa and chair and a signed art piece for a coffee table. Enjoy the morning sun coming through the bedroom window and the setting sun over the hay field from the kitchen and the front porch.The bedroom is nestled on the second floor loft area. The very comfortable queen sized bed (wool pillow top mattress and 4 pillows) provides a great night's rest from creative pursuits. An antique dresser and reclining wing backed chair complete the bedroom. Be prepared for your best night's sleep ever. Two guests maximum. Not suitable for children. No pets. Fully outfitted with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishes/eating utensils, pots, pans, basic spices, 'starter' coffee, hot cocoa & teas. All you will need are the steaks for the grill. This sweet cabin sits with more than an acre of mown meadow to the south, a large forested sinkhole to the east and a hay field to the west. The front sitting porch has two Adirondack chairs for you to watch the first rays of the dawn or the setting sun. The small side deck has a gas BBQ grill and just down the the stairs you will find a picnic table with umbrella. You will find everything you need for a relaxing vacation. A short walk up to the farm's highest hilltop will take you to the modern day labyrinth & a stunning 360 degree view of both mountain ranges. Across the entry road is the 7 mile Chessie Trail with much walking along the Maury River & rock cliffs. Only 4 miles from historic downtown Lexington and its universities, shopping, excellent dining, and art galleries; close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia Horse Center and an Appalachian Trail head.

Unless someone is present when you pick up the info packet with driving directions and cabin key. it is unlikely you will meet us, unless of course you wish to do so. We live on these 250 acres.     Stayed for one week in this cozy cabin , I was happy with the accommodations . The air was fresh, the surroundings were beautiful , we were quite isolated from the world.

    Quiet cozy cabin

    Comfy rustic cabin, but with some of the comforts of home, like air conditioning. The living room was comfortable, the kitchen well equipped. The front porch was nice for an evening sitting.

    How do damage deposits work?

    In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

    Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

    If Heartstone (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
