Of course there is the Palace of Versailles and Rambouillet as well.
A trip to Normandy and the seaside to visit such places as Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville (150kms) is easily possible as is a visit to the allied landing beaches, passing via Caen and Bayeux where the famous tapestry of William the Conqueror’s invasion is displayed.
For gentle exercise there is the possibility of golf and walks on the towpath to admire sunsets that inspired all the Impressionists.
