Description from owner
Independent self-catering apartments in ancient Tuscan farmhouse, fully restored with private swimming pool.
The house is on a 30 acres property on the slopes of Pratomagno mountain, between Florence and Arezzo (35 km from Florence, 25 from Arezzo, 50 km from Siena on easy roads), with a really stunning sight on the whole Valdarno valley and the Chianti hills. It is surrounded by olive trees (we do our own high-quality organic olive oil) and typical vineyards. The farmhouse dates back to the 17th century, it had an extensive restoration work a few years ago in a very refined style and trying to maintain as much as possible of the original building. The garden where the swimming pool is is immersed in the silent, relaxing surroundings of the countryside.
We have SIX apartments for rent, with one or two bedrooms each, sleeping up to 20 persons total. The apartments can be rented separately for couples and families, or together for groups!
Apartments "Porch", "Arcs", "Loft" and "Mulberry" have one bedroom with double bed, its own kitchen, its private bathroom and private outdoor garden area (BBQ available). A double sofa-bed in the living room can be added, to sleep other 1/2 persons comfortably. It is ideal for two persons, or a couple with 2 children.
Apt "Canopies" has 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 persons: it is ideal for two couples.
"Hayloft" is a separate house, with a large private terrace with the best view on the valley, and with its large dining room is the perfect place where groups to eat together. You will never forget your summer dinners on the terrace with view!
Then you will have access to the shared areas:
- a TV room with sofas (fomer apt#1) and WI-FI free area
- a large lawn terrace with view and relaxing chairs
- the swimming pool with umbrellas and sunbeds, in the garden with roses.
Podere Casarotta, because of its privileged position, offers a perfect balance between rest&relaxation and the chance to move around and visit hundreds of interesting places: the house is secluded, quiet and peaceful, but at the same time it's near to local town and villages (the nearest shopping point is Castelfranco di Sopra, just 4kms away!) and the A1 motorway is just at a 10 minutes drive.
Our house will be your luxurious, comfortable and relaxing starting point for visiting Tuscany! Whatever you are looking for: art, history, culture, parks and nature, wine and food routes, or just absolute relax, you will find them all at hand!

“Beautiful villa, stunning location, friendly and welcoming host, totally relaxing”
Beautiful building with thick stone walls and lots of atmosphere. Stunning location amongst the olive groves high on a hillside overlooking the Arno valley. Beautiful gardens and pool. Well equipped kitchen, big table and lots of space. Big airy bedrooms with lovely views. Simone and the other staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a great stay
Simone was the perfect host answering all our questions before and during our holiday. The property was great, well equipped and very clean! We particularly liked our terrace sitting out enjoying the late evening sun and watching the wild boars play on the garden below. Our little dog accompanied us on this holiday and for his first trip abroad he was very well catered for. We liked being miles from anywhere with glorious views. Enzo kept the pool in perfect condition and we enjoyed trying to communicate with him as none of us spoke the same language. Although remote it was perfect for exploring Tuscany I would definitely recommend a visit to the local village Loro Ciuffena it was idyllic and hardly any tourists. We shall most definitely visit again and stay in apartment 2 it has the best outside space in my opinion. Thank you Simone and Enzo for our perfect holiday in a little piece of paradise.
“A wonderful relaxing stay”
Podere Casarotta was perfect for a restful, non-action family break. Wonderful apartment, large (20 metre) pool, very peaceful and great weather. Restaurants in nearby towns. Lots of time to relax and read. Highly recommended!
Podere Casaritta is an oasis of beauty and comfort in the Tuscan hills. Situated among olive trees and perched above a deep picturesque valley it offers simple, very comfortable, rustic yet slightly luxurious suites. There is also a gorgeous pool. Simone, who runs the day to day operations is a friendly kind soul who along with his friend will prepare special meals for you by arrangement using in season local ingredients. Our meal rivaled that of any 4 star restaurant in Firenze or Roma. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a vacation that will allow for a combination of lazy days in a beautiful place and reasonable drives to interesting places like Loro Ciufenna, Sienna, Arezzo, Cortona, and a little farther away but still good for day trips Firenze and Perugia. If you go to Podere Cassarotta get the GPS coordinates for the bottom end of the road up the hill, it will make finding the place much easier. Enjoy your stay and tell Simone you want Paolo's fiore di zuca if you have one of his special meals. Returnato subito, Paolo and Mia Ronson , USA,
“Excellent Place (shhh don't tell anyone)”
The Podere Casarotta is a great place to stay. We were welcomed at 1.30am in the morning (after a long drive in a fiat 500 containing 4 people and a weeks worth of luggage!) by the friendly manager Simone who made sure we got to our great appartment. The place is stunning, set in the hills with great views and an excellent pool. Our kids loved swimming and I got time to lay back and finally read a couple of books. Although the main house contains a number of appartments (6 I think), you don't feel crowded as everyone has a great deal of privacy. We're looking forward to returning, and perhaps getting a couple of appartments so we can travel with friends as well. A great base for travelling with Florence, Sienna and Pisa all within easy driving distance. Great place.... you should go there. It's quiet and remote and you can do your own thing, but help is close at hand if you need to know where the nearest Gelato is! They also allow pets which is great... and the villa has a family of very cute cats to entertain the kids.
“The perfect Tuscan experience!”
This villa/farmhouse is perfect for small families or large groups. Each apt. is spacious yet private. The grounds are beautiful and the location is good for day trips into Florence or sightseeing. The groundskeeper, Simone, is very helpful and makes excellent meals when you arrive home at the end of the day. We had such a great time and cannot wait to return!
“We loved every moment of our stay at Podere Casarotta, what a wonderful place!”
Podere Casarotta is a beautiful property in the heart of Tuscany. It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Tuscan sun! The service was excellent, great e-mail communication, and very easy to book and also very reasonable rates. We stayed there with our 3 young kids, our apartment (#2) was beautiful and has a very well equipped self catering kitchen with everything you need. Everything is very charming and well taken care off. The kids loved the pool, very nice to swim relax and it also offers a beautiful view. You definitely need a car if you stay there, a long winding dirt road leads up there, but little towns that offers anything you need are within easy access. Within easy driving distance from Sienna, and other beautiful cities well worth a visit. Simone was very friendly and helpful, and we loved the meal/s he cooks on request. (usually on Thursdays and Saturdays) Also the organic Olive Oil from the farm is the best! We can highly recommend this property,
“Charming and Fantastic for a quiet and relaxing break - best to drive”
Beautifully renovated, lots of character, really puts you smack bang into Tuscany and a good base for sight seeing. Swimming pool is great to unwind. You generally take care of yourself but what a treat while still being so different to 5 star hotels! Recommend having Simone organise a dinner on the first night to get you off on a good start, wine and food were very good. You really need to have your own transport and with GPS. Ask for GPS coordinates to help you find the place on arrival. Bring a book. Good to know how to cook - do a bit of grocery shopping, grab a few beers and some wine then go back and kick back. Internet connection on a 3G mobile SIM card was intermittent - all the better to stay away from work. Good restaurants in the area (had a great meal at La Caninella? - try the Florentine steak) as well as a Prada outlet - have a look at the in-house guides or ask Simone.
