An all-year-round location, suitable for sea and ski, La Rijana sits on top of a headland. Our house looks out over the pool and the sea. From the windows and terrace, you can watch sunrise and sunset, follow the fishing boats and may even be lucky enough to spot dolphins just off the coast. On a clear day, you can have views across to Africa. You can see the coast from Motril to Punta de la Mona and all the surrounding mountains.

La Rijana is entered through a remote controlled gate and positioned just below an ancient Moorish tower, in a peaceful, residential, exclusive area of Almuñecar, known as Los Pinos, (The Pines). It consists of 14 houses, most of which are second homes and so it is generally extremely quiet. The communal pool (10m x 8m with Roman steps), which overlooks the sea, is open all year.

The house has rustic floor tiles throughout, is double-glazed and is equipped with AC and heating (modest use only). Fans are also provided for the bedrooms.

The well-furnished lounge/diner has remote controlled TV, DVD, pay-as-you-go Wi-Fi and a Hi-Fi (jack socket / bluetooth for ipod etc). There is a collection of books, games, CDs and DVDs, together with a comprehensive information file. Please note that all UK channels may not be available. International channels are not available and no programme information or advance schedules are included.

The kitchen, with granite surfaces, has induction hob, combination convection/grill/microwave oven, washer, large fridge-freezer, electric kettle and toaster, French coffee press etc and in addition, is well supplied with crockery and glassware for indoor and outdoor use. Despite the fact that here is a washing machine, I find it much easier to go to Speed Queen launderette at Calle Cristobal Colon 2, where you can wash and dry very cheaply in less than an hour and with help from the lovely attendant!

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, all with sea views. The master bedroom, with king bed has an en-suite bathroom. The other 2 bedrooms have twin beds (bedroom 3 with a stow-away bed). There is a second bathroom. Both bathrooms have WC, shower, basin and bidet.

Patio doors open onto a terrace which stretches over 2 sides, giving superb sea, mountain and pool views. There is a retractable sun canopy, teak dining table, side table and chairs and 2 sun loungers.

Wonderful that you all enjoyed your holiday! I too love to join with all the locals watching the Easter parades. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourselves checking out the bars and restaurants - we enjoy having a beer in the chiringuitos on the beach, but then in the evenings it's always lovely to go into the old town, and if not have a full meal, do a 'tapas trail'! It sounds as if the birthday meal went off well up in Otivar - views to die for!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Shona (the owner) a message.

If Shona (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
