HIllcrest Cottage has a wonderful position in the village of Low Row in Swaledale. Its elevated site provides visitors with unrivalled, panoramic views of Swaledale. The cottage sits quietly on the edge of the village, surrounded by common land, yet is just a short stroll from The Punchbowl Inn which is renowned for its good food, fine wines, well-stocked bar and pleasant ambience.

Hillcrest sleeps five in three bedrooms; one kingsize, one double and one single. The double bedroom and the shower room is on the ground floor making it suitable for guests with mobility problems but unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchair access. The main sitting room, on the first floor and with its two windows looking over the dale, is everyone's favourite room. The views from here are captivating and simply make you want to stop and stare. The dining / sitting room is traditionally furnished with oak table & chairs and antique dresser. With views over the garden & hills beyond, this is a lovely room to read the papers at the start of the day. Both the sitting room and the downstairs dining / sitting room have log burning stoves which is backed up by full central heating.

Guest comfort is a priority at Hillcrest Cottage. All our beds are new and of the highest quality with cosy duvets and luxury bedding to gensure a good night's sleep, essential after a day walking or cycling in the dale or touring the countryside.

Although we aim to be flexible Hillcrest’s change-over day is generally Saturday. Please enquire regarding arrival days other than a Saturday. Out of season (November to end of March) but excluding school holidays we will always try to accommodate guests arriving any day of the week.

We allow one well behaved pet at Hillcrest. Terms & conditions regarding pets are that they are not left in the cottage unattended and are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture. Please state at point of booking if you are bringing a pet - thank you. Please enquire if you have more than 1 dog. Sorry no puppies or young dogs.

The sitting room is on the first floor and is accessed via open stairs. Guests with very young children are asked to bring their own adjustable stair gate.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Glenda (the owner) a message.

If Glenda (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
