Description

Honeysuckle Cottage is every inch the classic Cotswolds' holiday home; cosy and welcoming inside, situated in one of the best local villages and in touching distance of Stow on the Wold. What isn't to like?! Tucked down a little lane and with two top notch pubs within walking distance, this cottage offers much for the family looking to visit the Cotswolds. Whether you are a group of friends or a family there is plenty to do for everyone nearby - Daylesford is about 20 mins walk away across the fields for example. Inside, the cottage is cosy and attractive set across three floors (stairs are 'normal height'), and certainly comfortable for six, with good space especially on the main living area of the ground floor. The kitchen/diner is well equipped and the light living room which looks towards the south has a traditional wood burning stove for the cooler days - ideal for the winter time. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one ensuite, all a good size and with ample storage. From your door you

The Cotswolds region

Lower Oddington

Honeysuckle Cottage sits in down a small lane in the heart of Lower Oddington a lovely village the Evenlode valley, just two miles east of the market town Stow on the Wold. Lower Oddington is part of the 'Oddington Conservation Area' and is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and you can see why, its simply stunning. We certainly feel this is a classic Cotswolds' village, and there are few to compare with it (in our opinion!) with beautiful buildings and stone houses throughout the village, in fact it is one of the very few to remain untouched in terms of property development and thus is truly charming. The nearest pub around the corner from the cottage is the lovely and welcoming The Fox AND there is another one further up the village called The Coach & Horses which is also very good - not bad for one village!!

There is a long history to the area and village with many houses dating back as far as the 16th century, while the Church of St Nicholas dates further back to the 12th century and therefore is Norman! Visitors to this lovely little church will be rewarded with an opportunity to see the rare Doom fresco.

Oddington is ideal for exploring quintessential English villages, historic houses and gardens and an abundance of superb walks of the surrounding area. There are many National Trust historic houses and gardens within a very easy drive with Chastleton House perhaps the most obvious. Serious garden enthusiasts will also like the opportunity to visit Sackville's Gardens at Hidcot Boyce - a must see.

For the more determined shopper, there is the 'organic paradise in the countryside' to be found at Daylesford Organic Farm with it's shop, restaurant, garden centre and it's holistic spa too. Stow on the Wold too has a good selection of boutique style shops - approx 5 mins drive away or 20 mins walk across the fields.

The villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter, Bledington and Broadwell are well worth a visit all with good pubs or similar worth visiting. Stow-on-the-Wold and Morton-in-Marsh cater for all shopping needs with a Tescos etc.

Finally (but by no means least) there are some absolutely excellent pubs nearby, in addition to your local! Lower Oddington is the location of the Fox Inn both offering warm hospitality and wonderful food, while award winning food and service can be found at the Kings Head, Bledington (5 mins), The Wild Rabbit and Kingham Plough (both Kingham about 8 mins) or The Feathered Nest at Nether Westcot (about 10 mins) Plenty to keep you well occupied!!!
