Bridge Cottage is situated in the heart of a picturesque village facing a traditional washhouse and an old stone bridge over the river Ouche. It is a traditional stone cottage.
The property is fully equipped and has recently been rewired and refurbished to a high standard, including internet access. The cottage is suitable for couples. It has one bedroom.
There is a spacious and comfortable living room on the ground floor with a flagstone floor and a dining area. The room is heated by a wood burning stove in the clooler months. To the rear is a well equipped kitchen which leads to a covered courtyard suitable for eating out in warm weather. From here are stairs to the first floor. This includes a double bedroom overlooking the river Ouche and a bathroom with a shower. The landing has a bed for a third person or a child if required.
There is a small gravelled garden to the rear which catches the afternoon sun.
The village of Lusigny sur Ouche is a picturesque stone built village, featuring several lavoirs (washhouses). Lusigny lies in the upper part of the beautiful Ouche valley, approximately 17 kilometres ( 10 miles) north west of Beaune. The village has a private chateaux, an auberge and a riverside park. It is surrounded by wooded hills and meadows which contain a wealth of wild life. There are a variety of interesting walks that can be taken from the house. For the more energetic, there are many cycling routes.
Bligny sur Ouche is a small market town two kilometres down the valley and within easy walking distance. Local amenities include; small supermarkets, banks, a bakery, a chemist, newsagent/gift shop, a hotel and restaurants. There is also a tourist information office and a small market on Wednesday mornings. In the summer a steam railway provides trips down the valley.
The nearest main town is Beaune, the historic capital of the Burgundy wine trade, situated in the heart of the wine growing areas of the Soane valley with Nuits St. George to the north and Pommard to the south. There are many Caves (Wine cellars) that offer wine tasting. The walled town has the Hotel Dieu (a medieval hospital) with its famous tiled roof. Beaune has a wide range of facilities; museums, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. The surrounding villages of the Cote d'Or also have many opportunities for wine tasting and buying.
Within easy reach of Lusigny is the spectacular hilltop village of Chateauneuf with its imposing castle. It over looks the Canal de Bougogne which is largely used for leisure.
