A peaceful, rural retreat within Lee Woods, on the banks of the river Lew. Stunning country cottage, steeped in history, set within an acre of garden and woodland, nestled in the heart of the Devon countryside. Self-contained, with own private entrance. Dog friendly annexe to main cottage.

Idyllic romantic retreat for two, with many hidden areas to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, whilst listening to the soothing flow of the river. Guests have exclusive use of a Romany caravan (Vardo) on the private river bank. Watch the wildlife - deer, badgers and foxes have been spotted within the grounds, and the river has resident kingfishers and herons. Or put on your walking boots and enjoy the surrounding Devon countryside via the extensive network of paths and bridleways, leading directly from the cottage.

Nearby Dartmoor offers ample opportunities for walking and cycling and The Devon Cycle Network (Route 27) is very close by, as is Drake's Trail and the Tamar Trails. Watersports available on Roadford lake, and the rivers can be fished via the 'Westcountry Angling Passport'.

The award winning market town of Tavistock is closeby, as is Dartmoor and the Cornish border, so ideally located for exploring Devon and Cornwall. The beaches of North Cornwall are a 40 minute drive away, and there are excellent restaurants in nearby Tavistock and Launceston.

Why can't I call Alan (the owner) before booking?

You can exchange contact details with the property owner/manager once your booking is confirmed and you’ve paid in full. Paying and communicating only through our platform allows us to ensure that your booking is covered by our Payment Protection policy.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Alan (the owner) a message.

If Alan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
