From the owner

The Herb Cottage is located on a working avocado and herb farm, tucked away in the Magoebaskloof mountains of the Limpopo. It is a fully self contained cottage with two bedrooms (one queen size bed and the other room with two three quarter beds) with en suite bathrooms and an outside shower looking onto the forest. There is a well equipped kitchen, very comfortable lounge opening onto the deck with a plunge pool and barbecue area.

For cold misty nights there is a cosy log fire.

We are wheelchair friendly with a gentle ramp entrance and handy holds in the bathroom and outside shower.

The garden stretches down to a pond and a river walk, with a picnic area where you can just relax and watch the birds and listen to the river tumble past. The butterflies are worth taking time to watch, and we have several rare birds only found in our forest area. The Samango monkeys are usually found chattering in the trees nearby and the water is cool and clear to drink.

Its the perfect escape from city life, and good place for honeymooners to come. But for those who are more active, there are plenty of walks on the farm and also nearby. Its good bicycling country and Haenertsburg, the closest small town has several charming restaurants and shops to get side tracked in. Tzaneen is 30 kms away where you can stock up with food - and can make a day of it and go to the Kruger National Park, which is only an hour and a half away.

There are plenty of festivals which are really fun events - the Berry festival, Kiwi festival and Spring fair, to mention a few. Swimming and biking events are well advertised too.

    How do damage deposits work?

    In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

    Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

    You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Elspeth (the owner) a message.

    If Elspeth (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
