The Gum Leaf Cabin offers you a real log cabin hideaway, only 1.5hrs from Newcastle.

Wake to clean, sweet air in a forest filled with birdsong; where native animals abound. Observe the wildlife from the comfort of the wrap around veranda.

The cabins are well appointed with all the appliances and technology you will need to make your stay easy and comfortable.

During the colder weather, a slow combustion wood heater keeps your cabin snug overnight, and nice and warm to return to.

The Gum Leaf Cabin is robust and rustic on the exterior and a mix of quaint and contemporary internally. The cabin is located near Dungog, NSW, and can accommodate five guests for a secluded getaway to a tranquil, natural setting.

It is set on the 250-acre Carawirry property bursting with the lush foliage of a temperate rainforest. Featuring hardwood floors, wood-paneled walls, exposed beams, and large arrays of windows and wrap around veranda provide plenty of natural light and immersive views of its flora-filled surroundings.

The Gum Leaf Cabin boasts 3 bedrooms. 2 have a Queen bed and the third has a king single. Crisp cotton sheets, fluffed pillows, snuggly warm doonas, and thick blankets are all supplied to ensure your stay is as hassle free as possible. Downstairs with the bedrooms is a comfy 3 seater sofa and the slow combustion fireplace. The perfect place to lay reading a book after a day of exploring the walking trails. Firewood for your fireplace is provided for your use at no extra cost. Split, seasoned and stacked right near your cabin for your pleasure.

The cabin's bathroom sports spa-like double rainfall showerheads, a floating vanity, and toilet. Thick, absorbent towels, face washers, hand towel, and foot mat are also supplied.

In the lounge room you'll relax on 2 comfortable sofas, sit your cuppa on the coffee table, and catch a sighting or two of the native wildlife through any of the large windows covering the cabin, or turn on the movie you've been waiting to watch on the wall mounted smart tv (and DVD player). You also find a small bluetooth speaker in the TV cabinet for your use while staying with us.

The cabins kitchen is brand new and built with funtionality in mind. It boasts, an electric oven, gas cooktop, overhead rangehood, 2 under bench fridges, dishwasher, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, as well as the usual inclusions.

The Gum Leaf Cabin is private and set in the forest on Carawirry Forest Escape which boasts rainforest, several creeks, high country, ridge forests and open grassland.

Because of this diversity of habitat, the property is home to a wonderful variety of animals and plants. Among the animals, the endangered Parma wallaby, powerful owl, and the koala, bettong and potoroo.

To make exploration safe and easy, there are numerous walking trails cut and signposted throughout the property and neighbouring land. Chichester State Forest and the looming Bulga Range offer more challenging walks. More information on walks and activities can be found in the cabin.

Our guests comment repeatedly about how; peaceful it is; the wildlife; the absolute privacy; the calming effect after city stress; and their delight in the surrounding beauty and being able to see the stars.

Carawirry is surrounded by State Forest and situated at the start of the forest circuit, and many drives to scenic and picnicking areas, as well and river swimming holes.

In a world gone crazy with stress, rush and noise – places like our peaceful, natural wonderland are heaven indeed.
